There is no TL;DR version of this opinion piece.
I would like to start off by saying I was never an EVE person. First time I heard "HTFU" was when I came on the forums. New Eden? Dafuq was that? Well I did my reading, i searched for what made EVE so famous, and what struck me the hardest was how ruthless a place New Eden is.
Now with that in mind, I came to remind certain fairies of DUST this mantra. In New Eden, nothing's suppose to be given to you. You fight for it, and nothing rings more true than the mentality of FPS players. We're competitive by nature, and by that I mean we all play to win. Nobody likes to lose. We invest time, effort and money. Fighting to get better, why? To win, and this case to secure districts.
Yet here we are. Drowning in a bucket of tears in MH.
I haven't commented in the War Room for a while cuz all I've been doing is listening to people. What I've been seeing is people kissing ass, people pointing fingers at others, people trying their hand at meta, people making excuses for their failures, people trolling, people TRYING to troll, people trying to sound smart, and people who actually did come across smart. There's one thing I haven't seen yet, and I'll get to that later on.
Planetary Conquest was something that really got me interested in DUST. Competitive players going at it for fun. Simple as that. No EVE influence needed for corps to want to fight each other...well some corps, other corps just played dodge ball, but that's another TL;DR thread in the making.
Corps were respected for fighting each other. Corps who fought each other, respected each other.
Now, here's what been going on in MH, and I'll quote my friend Baracka on this:
Baracka Flocka Flame wrote:everyone supported teams 'pulling out'(quitting) and suddenly winning and dominating was looked down upon ^ This right here. Since when has winning become a bad thing? People were fine with other corps leaving PC, running away from competition, but when the people that stayed are fighting, and competing there's a problem? Do you fairies see the problem here?
I'm personally sick and tired of hearing about "helping the Indie corps". Thankfully I'm not a CEO or director so i don't have to deal with it. It's a good concept, but is New Eden a place to babysit? That is my personal opinion and view. Grown ups have disagreements and that's ok kids. Nobody is getting a divorce. (same can't be said about other alliances).
I personally gave the members of an indie corp money after they attacked us and lost. I didn't do it cuz I was trolling. I did it cuz they fought us! Out of respect, I compensated them for their effort. Corps that don't want to fight and just be given districts, is babysitting in my eyes.
I'll come back to my earlier point. The one thing I didn't see amongst all the tears and finger pointing, is the one person to point a finger back at themselves. People blaming EoN... how about you sit back for a second, and think about that. EoN started day 1 of PC with a handful of districts...literally. There were corps in EoN that didn't have a single district.
We fought, and clawed our way through 2 wars. Our alliance stood strong throughout everything with minor hiccups here and there. We fought like animals. Every corp in EoN pulled its weight, and I was proud to be part of its success. We fought for what we have right now. Yet people hating on our success?
You're hating on our determination? Our teamwork? Our organization? Our will to never give up? Our motivation?
Blame yourselves, and while you're at it, ask yourselves these things:
- What did you as an individual do?
- What did your corp do?
- What did your alliance do?
Truth is, everyone here in the War Room crying about us, don't want to answer these questions honestly. It's easier to point fingers and cry. It's easier to whine on the forums than it is to muster up a pair of balls and attack us.
I'll close this thread by saying this, the amount of tears I've witnessed the past couple weeks in a game that shares New Eden's universe with EVE, is sad. It's pathetic. HTFU isn't enough of an expression to people in here anymore. I've lost respect for so many corps. Where's the "eye of the tiger"? All i see is bloodshot eyes filled with tears looking at me.
Individuals making themselves sound misinformed, and frankly sound stupid. How the corps of these individuals allow them to even whisper the crap that they proudly shout is beyond me. Making yourselves sound like cowards is what you're doing. Hiding behind words on a forum.
Truth is, if some of yall can muster the courage to attack as easy as you muster the tendency to talk **** on the forums, MH won't be so full of tears and salty individuals pointing fingers every direction.
MH might actually be a place of battles. But hey, what do i know. I only saw first hand what we did from having nothing. We were nobodies, and now here we are. The "bad guys" of Molden Heath. Hate us for dominating, and winning, but tell me, what's the feeling you get when you think about attacking us?
That feeling you got, is what defines you in this game, and it's what makes EoN so hated.
Stay classy. |

Baracka Flocka Flame wrote:I heard the reason was EoN blue'd with everyone and refuses to break up... thats the problem with Dust and PC.
lol
ROFL, LoI, CRONOS, Orion, NF
All are / were major alliances at one point. The one time we blued with NF (which lasted a couple weeks) was against CRONOS... but hey, lol @ logic and reason on this forum.
But hey, we blued everyone up is always the argument people bring up |

And we're trying to keep the game alive long enough for CCP to make it worth playing. people been leaving long before EoN established itself in MH. True. But PC gives them a reason to not leave, if they have a chance to play in it. So... a temporary relief of bad game mechanics can give them the chance to experience what they game will be, and give them more reason to stick it out. Whereas them just staying in pubs won't retain them.
and you think people leaving is EoN's fault? Has EoN been wiping indie corps out of PC?
Funny thing about this. CRONOS attacked and removed Dust Uni from PC first week of PC. LoI wiped ROFL from PC and would have done it to other alliances if they had the chance to.
Yet, EoN is in the spotlight for doing what exactly? Not babysitting people enough? Not giving fulfilling people's self entitled needs?
Please explain to me, how exactly people leaving has anything to do with EoN.
You think if EoN wasn't here, there won't have been another "super power"? lol... they probably won't have extended the same courtesy EoN has. |

Now who is crying? If you can't deal with the flak that comes from being apart of the top alliance, then maybe you should go indie. There will always be some degree of contempt for the haves from the have-nots. Expecting any different in this situation is foolish of you. It doesn't matter if you are tyrannical or benevolent, there will always be those who will slight every accomplishment. Asking for sympathy while every member in your alliance is sitting on a fat wallet and a nice daily income is ridiculous, and you should be laughed at for trying it. If the ever increasing wallet amounts and friendlies all across the map are not enough for you, then you will never be satisfied.
don't know how what i said was "crying"...what am i crying over exactly?
I'm not asking for sympathy hahaha...why would i? Sympathy for what?!!
If anything i'm begging for less tears to be shed and for people to do something other than whine and QQ on the forums about EoN >.>
No but yea, give me your sympathy. That somehow does something to me, or for me. |

Then Eon's mouths come here to regale us with tales of their victories vs corps and alliances who were largely playing The Last Of Us or catching up on Game of Thrones instead.
Funny thing is... we did those things too
Big LoU and GoT fans in our alliance.
But hey, straight fights against people's "A Team" means nothing right? They were watching tv or trolling around with Ellie |
