I was playing today and could NOT STOP THINKING about a minmatar battle rifle. I was challenging myself though. I said to myself, " yes ot would look really cool. . But how would it contribute to the dust experience." I dont think it should just be another assault rifle though.I think we can all agree that to that. I think it should have a different play style to that of assault rifle. It needs to shake things up and be a brutal un forgiving machine when used the proper setting. Brutal and fearless like the min minmatar. Minmatar favor explosive on the move weapons: the flaylock and the mass driver. So the battle rifle needs to nurture that style. Here we go. The minmatar battle rifle should be a close range battle rifle with explosive rounds. Yah i said it. EXPLOSIVE ROUNDS. Calm down there is more to it then that. The rounds should shatter into your apponent upon impact to the walls and ceilings. This new rifle should have you using your surroundings as your weapon. Very similar to the mass driver. I thnk this is a great idea for a new style of assault rifle. Now lets talk details. This is where i hope my fellow players can help and debate. I think the minmatar assault shoud have a smaller clip. Maybe close to a breach assault rifle. 40 rounds per clip. Or maybe 28 depending on how affective the ammunition is. I think 40 though or 48 Damage wise im not too certain. This weapon is brutal because of the damage it does to armor plates. It is affective on armor over shields be ause armor is weak against scortching hot metal shards. As for splash damge the shattering bullets should spread about .7 meters off the floors and walls. This needs to be discussed though. Im thinking that the spread of shattering bullets should decrease with range. Rate of fire Should be around 600 to 720 rpm. It should shoot fast so the it acts as a spraying gun the shreads things up but can still be used accurately at close range. I really dont thiink this weapon will be over powered if they do it right. Its a close to almost medium rang assault rifle. We can make it work. What do my fellow dusters want to add to this?? Lets talk weapons!!

Jathniel G I A N T EoN. 744	Posted - 2013.08.03 09:25:00 - [8] - Quote Looks good. But... I'm betting nobody is going to use it, OR they will only use the tactical variant. Why they WON'T use it? Two reasons: 1. Damage Profile. It's biased against Armor and weak against Shields like the SMG and HMG. Being strong against shields is usually better (since shields > armor) 2. Burst Fire. Not a bad firing mode in itself, but combined with a damage penalty vs. shields, it's not an ideal firing mode. To test, use a Burst AR, and try to imagine it's range about 15m higher, with it's damage profile almost reversed. Even though the SMG and HMG are weak against shields, they both have a blisteringly high RoF to compensate. This upcoming rifle will have to follow a similar concept to be effective. I imagine it will fire 5 round bursts. With every shot doing between 22-29 damage (will LIKELY do LESS damage than it's Gallente counterparts), at a RoF of 1000+ RPM. Not unlike the Allotek Burst Assault Rifle (900+ RPM). Clip Size will be lower than it's Gallente counterpart if it does more damage, higher if it does less. It will likely have a fully automatic variant for CQC doing less damage than it's Gallente and Amarr counterparts (Assault Rifle and Assault Scrambler Rifle) and be at 25-35 damage, at 800+RPM. Clip Size: 80-100 rounds with substantial recoil (remember it is weaker vs. shields). Why they WILL use it? It will likely have a tactical variant for long range combat, doing about 62-70 damage, at 550RPM. Clip Size, 21-30 rounds. (Unless, some kind of mitigation is thought out, the tactical variant of this weapon will become the next FOTM.) I'd bet all my officer weapons on it.

I'll personally use it, as it'll be better than the Gallente Burst, and I like that one as it is.
