SYNCHELLE GÇô A number of arrests were made this morning in the Thoulde constellation of Essence, after a series of overnight disturbances in one of the largest settlements on Synchelle III.
Several small scale protests have erupted across the Federation over the course of the last few days after the Bloody Hands of Matar claimed responsibility for an attack on an Impetus distribution center in Atlanins last Thursday which left 7 dead and 13 injured.
The most prominent of the arrests made was that of an as yet unidentified Brutor male believed to be between the ages of 18-25, who was apparently taken into custody early this morning after resorting to self-defense in an incident that resulted in the deaths of three ethnic Gallente men. There has been widespread outrage from the Matari community within the Federation, along with calls for his release after the revelation that he was handed directly to SDII by local law enforcement this afternoon for further questioning.m
In addition to the unrest, a number of right-wing Federal groups have called for the extradition to the Federation of any known members of the Bloody Hands of Matar to face trial for the attacks in Atlanins. The call harkens back to the demands from the Republic to extradite Gerne Broteau, a Gallente citizen, to the Republic for a shooting rampage that left dozens of Minmatar dead, including former Prime Miniter Karin Midular. Broteau was executed by the Republic following a trial that lasted 36 hours.
The Tribal Council has remained silent thus far, and several parliamentary delegates declined to comment on the situation.

A link to the original article.
It seems that however enlightened, cosmopolitan, and liberal a society professes to be, and to whatever degree that might even be true of some of that society's members, there is always the basic truth of the human animal waiting underneath: a petty, brutal, easily-frightened ape.
Though trouble is stirring between enemies of the State, it is difficult to be cheerful about it. I wonder whether this is how the Jove got themselves into such trouble: trying to change themselves, to become more than animals at last. Certainly, it's part of what tripped up Sansha Kuvakei. |

((thanks for putting the link))
I can only hope this is resolved without violence, the last thing my people need is to be without Gallente support. |

Hm. I wonder whether that's so, soldier.
If the Gallente could somehow quit the war zone, leaving you to face the combined might of the State and Empire, the effects would likely be devastating.
But, they can't. The Gallente are sort of tied up dealing with the Caldari, and the State is likewise a bit tied up dealing with the Gallente ... meaning that you're mostly having to deal with the Amarr, and vice-versa. It would probably result in fewer incidents of Gallente loyalists taking a "road trip" to come help out, they might even do it anyway if you really seemed to need the help. After all, the Gallente don't want to be stuck facing the Empire and State alone, either.
Also, if the Matari are anything at all like the Caldari, you'll tend to pull together more the worse things look. You sort of give that same impression of grim determination.
So, aside from a bit of financial aid and such ... would it really do that much damage? |

We can't even pay the light bills on our stations, how the heck are we supposed to fund a war effort? Aside from that we already have such cold relations with the Gallente that some of our officers wont accept their help even when the battle WILL be lost without them. This only makes it worse, even if only a little. If this trend continues for much longer, though I guess we will find out soon enough... |

With what has taken place I would imagine the Matari would want to reconsider their friendship with the Gallente. Here you have a young Brutor in Gallente space minding his own business and attacked by some Gallenteans likely because he is of the same race as a terrorist group. Upon defending himself he is arrested and handed over straight to the Black Eagles for interrogation. The Gallente may support your independence from our Empire, but it doesn't appear as though they support you as people much - more of a "enemy of my enemy" sort of deal. Remember, this is all started with a rampage by a Gallentean killing 59 Matari including the Ray of Matar. Say what you want about the Amarr, but at least we respected you not only as humans but as fellow brothers and sisters of God. |

Never. Those heathens must renounce their debauching ways and subscribe to the Faith before I have anything to do with them. |
