[FEEDBACK] Uprising 1.3 Weapon Rebalancing dev blog -https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=96693&find=unread Status: Changes seem well received, still working on making contact grenades into sticky grenades. Will monitor weapon performance in 1.3 and make changes as necessary in later patches.
As a heavy I just can't see this ending well. I can just imagine turning a corner and everyone tossing one of these poof!
A grenade needs a bit if skill making them a sticky sounds like contact nades without at least the skill needed to make contact.
Not enough information on these yet but this concerns my slow moving nade magnet fat self. |

sticky granades would require MORE skill.
contact granades just spash things to death. sticky granades would assumably be more like locus, and have a timer, making them EXACTLY as balanced as locus just instead of bounce mechanics it would stick to surfaces alowing for more tactical (and skill intensive) applications.
aka its just a locus granade hush you and alow those of us who like to use dirty (but fair and hard to use) tricks to mess up someones day |

Not enough information on these yet but this concerns my slow moving nade magnet fat self. Ever play Halo? Sticky grenades actually take more skill to actually hit the target (and get it to stick) so that maximum damage can be inflicted.
Hope, they don't stick to surfaces, but only people and vehicles.
Currently, contact grenades take no skill because you can just throw them at the feet of your opponent and kill them.

i get a feeling that in DUST, extreme CQC is supposed to be both extremely risky and at the same time emotionally rewarding?
mayhap we are going to finally see the larger maps, with installations containing complex internal structures...
hmm or i'm just far too optimistic?
edit: from what i remember of that post, the timer of the stickies will be substantial, maybe even only occurring after a direct hit? |

Lets be clear I'm not saying contact nades take skill, just by the limited info we have if sticky nades were like the homing /stickey nades that AV had they wouldn't take skill either.
No I never payed cod so I'm not familiar with how they worked maybe you can explain them |

sticky /= homing....
sticky is sticky, its not a friggen homing missle (unless they stick to teamates and we can get suicide bombers hahahaha)
its a locus that instead of bouncing sticks to the first surface it contacts.
thats it... i dont know where you got this homing crap from |

In halo they are slow moving and oddly hard to stick to someone without outright standing in front of them. And if u missed normally ment death. Or even if stuck the target they could charge at you and the splash damage could up killing both of you. As nades go it was quite well done |

same.... suicide LAV would be one of my favorites, hell just sticking remotes to damn near anything is a dream of mine.
maybe once they get to sticky mechanics of the granades to work they can apply them to the remotes that way they wont expire all the time |

So they may work like locus grenades grenades you cook them and throw them at someones feet they stick to the ground or the player boom? Or they may not start their timer until they stick?
Depending on the cooking mechanism and the splash seems awfully close to contact nades .

your complaining about something that doesnt even exsist yet, they dont even know how they will work because it all depends on the limits of the systems already in place.
go back to QQing about he AR or everything except the AR (whatever QQ crowd you belong to)
theoretical QQ is counterproductive to absolutly everything at least if you join one of the other two QQ groups you can circlejerk untill the end of time

Well aren't you precious. Who are you again what do you offer to this general discussion? The idea is too get out ahead of the potential issue so we don't have a repeat of the contact nades 2.0, not sure if you were around the first time we went through the contact grenade debacle in closed beta? Unlike your posts I would like to make this game enjoyable and not see mistakes that take months to correct.
Hopefully you can contribute to the community in the future but I wont hold a spot for you in my circle. |

you like to lay the condecention on pretty thick dont you.
a simple analysys of already available mechanics renders most of your worrys pointless.
basically the only possable reason to think sticky granades would be OP are if you think locus granades are OP (NOT fused since sticky would require a timer and would therefore remove the only thing about contact granades are are an issue)
remove that and they are nearly identicle to locus, most of the things your afraid of can already be acomplished with locus and yet arnt dont for one reason or another.
i challenge you to come up with ONE example of something OP with sticky granades that cant be acomplished with locus, and do not meantion contact granades when you do so, since sticky is being designed as the contact granades replacement)
its more akin to a remote explosive in use than it is a granade. |

my current impression is that it will be very over powered to heavies, I think it needs to be in the area where it can do damage but it can't kill anything with 1. I would say 2 and a half for a proto heavy suit.
timer: from when the sticky hits something damage: only enough to kill with direct sticky radius: smaller due to the accuracy
would be very rewarding to see it happen, but I don't think it should be common place. The locust should be the better choice if used right. I don't want to throw a sticky and walk away from the explosion. |

Basically, it's a lot like a regular grenade but if it hits someone's body (in the air, not if it's on the ground) then it sticks to them and detonates a couple seconds later. Here check out this video, I'm sure it won't be exactly the same as in Halo, but it gives a rough idea for how a sticky grenade works in it's most famous gaming form.

so your saying remote explosives are OP?
because these are just remote explosives on a short timer that you can stick to people (if your lucky) they will rarely actually be used that way and if they do manage to do so it was probably more effective to kill you a different way and they are just doing it for laughs to demonstrate that they can aim them well.
its a thrown remote explosive on a timer... |
