so, are you guys going to do anything to save your game, or just ride it out for a few more months and then let it crash? Everyone is thinking that there are smaller and smaller server numbers, particularly new players, and this spells trouble for the games future.
There are a lot of problems that have been ignored for months now, particularly the absurd difficulty that new players face trying to get into the game, and no, battle academy was not a good try, it was another half-assed attempt at making it look like you guys were working on a solution.
Then, there was talk of making a drop ship into a bomber. Then, making the massdriver into a mortar. This makes it seem like you guys are being lazy about adding new content and game resources.
Come on, I know you guys have a lot on your plate, but your game doesn't look like it's failing, it IS failing.
Can we get some real action to do something here? This has gotten beyond stupid.

Ironically, player count hasn't been dropping recently:

This just goes to show that what "everyone knows" on the forums, is probably not true.

Well, that's good to know. Still want to know why they merged the ambush types. I wonder if that means they are getting ready for a new game type |

I've been following various threads and have seen the link to the server stat several times, with the argument that the game is growing with new players, well yes, but a stronger argument can be made that this game has already reached critical mass and is now on a downward cycle.
Look at DUST 514 server stat in blue, Past 24 hours , Past week and past month, obviously the evenly spaced dips are all sched maintenance shutdown and we also notice the peaks are relatively even on all three graphs, this actually represents stagnation .
The first real evidence of entropy starts at the - Past three month - graph. For growth to be happening you want to see the right side of the graph taller then the left side of the graph ie as time goes by more ppl join, in fact the opposite is happening. Past three month shows a peak of ppl at ~8k with a steady loss to ~4.5K. The same trend is evident in the - Past six month- and _ Past year graphs.
Now the bullet to the head, bear with me. The red graphs which illustrate NEWBORN players. First you need a definition of NEWBORN, either the definition is ppl who dl the game and created a new character( good) , and / or ppl who are already members , terminate a character and then log in as a new player again (bad). Now we all know and admit to having ALT characters and doing this. We can even expand the definition because every player gets three characters to create, so in a sense I could be a NEWBORN three times over.....follow so far?
RED- Past month - graph . Count the peaks and it adds up to 31, one peak for every day good. Looks like growth 750 players on the left side and growing to just under 1K as time goes by. Break it down to every peak and you could argue that every day of every month well over 500 ppl a day join DUST ( 500 as the median #) .Really 500 new players a day , 3500 a week. 14K new players a month!! No. At best the graph shows ~200 new players during a 1 month period.*
Unfortunately the - Past three month - chart clearly shows a decline over time, as does the following two charts What is not fully evident is how the -Past month -chart shows increments of 250 and the -Past three month - chart shows increments of 10K, I would imagine servers merged at this time or there was some sort of global tally. N/A data.
*Lastly follow this link - http://dustboard.com/global/ - It shows a partial list of reborn pilots.
"Some of the 25,383 reborn pilots are RYN Vangreborn 4 times Nyteskyreborn 2 times fffffff gggggggreborn 2 times white applereborn 2 times Caporal SORLINreborn 2 times"
See that sole graph in red, titled - Newborn MERCENARIES - looks identical to the - Newborn players graph over the same period in time. Well that's cause they are the same chart, indicating a strong likelihood that you are called a new player every time you terminate a character and start a new one.
But hey let's not be all gloomy. It could well be that a game such as DUST can survive over an extended period of time with ~200 new players consistently joining every month. If we attribute a 15% drop out rate per month ( based on red chart -Past three month- variance that would be 170 ppl / month that are willing to stay for an undisclosed period of time.
u still reading ? ok be gloomy (200/3)-15%=56, as in 56 new members per month.
I could be wrong though.
