I am always thinking of new ways to bring Eve and Dust closer together. I got this idea the other day of how Dust players could really make a difference in the conquest of systems other than planetary conquest.
Hear me out, I think that the devs should devote some time to creating a station environment to roam while not in battle. I think that Stations (especially player stations) should have station sized weapons on then that can be operated by dusties (you know giant missile silos, railguns, atry, etc... maybe even some drone like system for dusties to fly ships around. Either way, the attacking force could have a ship that launches (attackable) dust pod torpedoes or dropship drones*(that work like reverse mining drones) at the station and sending hostile forces into the station to cut off its defenses. The threat of the station guns would give dusties a role in space and not just planets and attacking that station with dust units would also add Dust pvp into play. I would suppose the station turrets would operate alot like the stationary turrets we see on the battlefield.
I also think that expanding the station environment wold open the world of dust to PvE. The mission agents could give Dust missions to Dust players. I can only imagine the possibilities especially if they kept their mission status (security, distribution, mining etc...) I def see how a mission can bring a player to complete an objective on a planet (such as capturing an objective, eliminating hostiles, facility destruction) maybe even some station mission where you have to defend a station or kill a terrorist. Like I said the possibilities are endless. Even open space missions would be possible, were you have to assault a pirate fort or maybe travel through ruins and data sites. (possible implementation of an EvE player with those Dust pod torps shooting a special building at a data site or something along those lines)
One thing that needs to happen for this to take place is the implementation of dust jump clones. Dust players should have an advanced infomorph psychology of some sort because they are constantly being uploaded into clones. This would allow Dusties to "travel" the galaxy a little more realistically. and make Buying clones and suits for Dust players a more important market. Obviously, alot of planning and new equipment would have to be tested and thought up. but i think that stational warfare is a perfect start to a harmonious New Eden Community.
I am sure the devs are already working and have been working on a station environment, (primarily for Eve players) but i think that it should be implemented into both games. Maybe, just maybe, Eve and Dust players can work in tandem! that would be incredible. |
