I had so much fun playing in academy. Players around me had weapons and armors on around the same level. And then suddenly i was pushed to new battle tier LOL. Now i must play against players with level 5 weapons and armors, with gazzilions of shield/armor HP. Most of them pawn me with 2 shots.
I told myself "Ok, i have enough time now to play alot and catch up". Now imagine what i felt when i learned about weekly SP cap.
I found this information on Dust 514 wiki : "Dust 514 has a cap on how many active skill points you can earn in a week, in order to retain some balance between casual and hardcore players." Please explain me how this is supposed to keep "balance". It is not about balance, weekly cap has been made to provide hardcore players with easy targets. I simply cant get good enough to play against them with a CAP. Now i will be their easy target for months. How is this a good idea ?
There is more. I created new character today, and now you have to make 10000 lifetime WP on the same small MAP, playing the same thing over and over, before getting to next tier. Its boring, extremly boring and will simply push back many potential players. How is this a good idea ?
So now tell me, how am i supposed to enjoy this game, with no matchmaking, playing against UBERWTF players without possibility to get better fast enough (And they dare to call it BALANCE). And now this repetetive academy.
Please forgive me my english. |

im still trying to push it on the forums though we have to give it time

Best thing to do is ask around for newbie friendly channels and squad up with people. This game is pretty miserable when you solo but can be a blast in groups. Another good tactic if you're dead set on soloing is to shadow players in better gear. |

Please forgive me my english. You realize that some of the hardcore players make the argument that the SP cap is there to hold them back in support of newer players And those hardcore players are morons. The SP cap is far more damaging to new players then it is hardcore and veteran players. There is no such thing as a Player level gap once you have enough SP in a given class, everything beyond a primary fit is a bonus but in no ways a power advantage. |

I do agree CCP could added more learning tiers instead.. but hopefully this is only a temporary solution.. right CCP ? |

The biggest advantage older players have against you is the amount of tank that they can fit along with a good weapon.
1) Know that you can have 25% of the KDR of the top players in a match but still make as much (or more) in profit as them. 2) Find something you like to fight with at range (>50m) that isn't the sniper. You are safer out there because a lot of the vulnerabilities at that distance are effectively nuetralized. |

Keeping it civil, the MD isn't this "I win button" you're imagining it to be. Very highly situational and horrible in 1v1 situations. Logis are slow, squishy, and SP intensive. If these two options were new player friendly, there'd be logi and MD starter fits. There's a reason the AR is the first weapon any new player sees. |

Yea the changes to the SP system made in february were a temporary solution until a Rollover system could be implemented and how many months has it been? This isn't even on the iterative cycle for all we know. Meanwhile removing the cap would have no development time and could be done today.
Face it the only REAL reason for the cap is to monetize boosters, there are no other reasons that have any true validation. |

This is going to be a big issue for the future of DUST...with ideas like 8v8 academy, this new model just is not welcoming in the new players at all...and is going to effect this games growth from the viewpoint of the new player

Well.. that is not a brainier...SP boosters are the main income for CCP right now. Hopefully when CCP introduces more MMO content in the game, booster will be a thing of the past that will be forgotten as the "Dark Ages" of Dust 514 |

Understand the matchmaking problem. It can be very difficult. There should be some sort of variation on game types and maps for new players. It is not fair putting someone new against a fully stacked team of vets.
Regarding the SP cap: all of us who have been here since the beginning, sort of earned it. How is it fair if it takes me 6 months to get where i am and someone gets there in a week just cause they are new? May be they can raise the SP cap for new players to atleast 2-3 mil before they throw them in with the animals. |

I hope it will convert to a universal sp rollover cap. People will still get boosters because who has the patience to progress 33% slower? Especially when you need several million SP to get a decent fit. I use boosters to chip away at the ridiculous lifetime SP gap 1500 at a time after the current, just as I would to do it 8000 at a time if they switch to a universal cap. |

the main problem is not the cap its low play pool(count) and match making, once match making get fix you should see an improvement ie. low sp vs low sp high sp vs high sp (or how ever they end up working it), then if play count increases the pool of available mercs at the same sp level will increase making it more even.
the sp cap is there for 2 reasons as said above it holds hardcore players back top players are on around 20mil now (is that about right) if this cap was not there it would be more like 40mil and although after a set amount of sp a "class" will not get better more vets would have both a fully kitted drop suit and a fully kitted HAV to call on by now
the other reason IMH is to keep in line with EVE sp
this does mean that like EVE new players are going to have to get to a level of sp before being able to compete with vets but this game is meant for 10 years it will take upto a year for new players to be able to fight vets but once that year is up they will be as good as they can be in 1 role and 2-10 year old vets will have more role to choose from but will not be more power full than the new play in his/her role

i have 18 mill sp, if their was no cap i'd have around 35-50 mil sp and trust me that's low compared to what some players would have.
the cap is in place to make sure all players progress equally, when a player starts this game they should never think they will have the most sp in the game, but you should understand nobody is progressing faster then you. |
