Warner Bros have shut down a Skyrim mod for attempting to recreate LotR. I can't remember what the justification was (denying potential profit on a game they might've made in the future? Dunno. Can't remember) but they shut that thing down.
On the other hand, they didn't stop Third Age: Total War from being a thing.

LoTR is something all together diferent because it is based off of a book Dust is a video game first and foremost and i am reskinning a game with weapons look like dust weapons and I am going to get the character models from dust drop the tank from sec 8 use tanks from dust and use the dropships from sec 8 it is a little tricky though I have a long way to go b4 that though because I am only like 15% done decompiling section 8 |

DUDE, as a player of section 8, let me know when your done! And go to the unreal tournament site. you might find some modders who might help, or at least offer some tips.

quick update this is not going to be a total conversion it is going to be a content addition.
and a mutator
mutator
we are going to take modify the swarm mode in section 8 prejudice to what i am terming drone infestation.
content addition:
we are adding the weapons, dropsuits( just medium suits for now), and vehicles meshes
I could use a animator, techinical artists, and a gameplay programmer you should all be familiar with the udk
our end goal is to get this mod off the ground by december of this year
remember shoot me an in game message who knows we could all land jobs with ccp |

Just dont call it dust, call it Rust 514 or Section 8 dusters mod, then they cant issue a cease and desist order, plus the burden is on them to prove you are plagiarizing.
Not to mention you can always plead fair use, there are plenty of copyright laws that can be circumvented. Not to mention you have international copyright law that is easy to get around not to mention they have to find out who you are to prosecute you and prove you made the mod not to mention a lot of Cease and desist orders have actually no real legal basis they are sometimes used for intimidation more then anything. A good lawyer can put holes through a C&D if he knows his copyright law.
Plus C&D can only be issued at certain points in a development process and only for certain things.

What we should do is get our hands on the Cry 3 engine and made a FPS game that can link to Star citizen, now that is being innovative!. SC will even allot private servers with mods to be run, so if we made a mod that could link to Star citizen that expanded the FPS combat in a meaningful way you could go a lot further. Plus they would be very receptive to a good product and could even add it to the main game. |

Yes but is infinitely harder to transfer the information from a ps3 to a pc and than decompile this information twice once from whatever language ps3 uses then decompiling the bytecode into unreal script. Then trying to fix all the issues. Then modding the game. It's much easier to use section 8 prejudice because it is a pc game with no bugs. The end goal is to make a pseudo PvE which are ready works with the ambush mode so if anybody knows anything about modding please send me an In gamen message that way we can exchange emails |
