Remember that strafing is great but jumping gets you killed. When strafing you can change the direction at will but if you jump, the sniper can shoot you mid air. That's how I killed those hard to shoot targets - just wait for them to jump. |

When I used to use a shotgun last build, I also loved it when people jumped. It made their movements for the next second *very* predictable, allowing me (unless I messed up) to place one or two hits.
So what I'm wondering is, are there any circumstances where jumping *is* a good idea? |

snipers and shotguns have burst damage. Against weapons with sustained damage, like ARs and SMGs and HMGs, jumping in CQC can save you for a few seconds, especially if you're a scout and you're facing an HMG. Usually not a great idea though. Also, common in many FPS games is jumping to get farther away from the ground where a grenade or contact explosive might go off. Not sure if it helps here, but its a habit. |

That was my first thought as well.
As many people have said previously jumping is usually a bad idea even in CQC situations. The only time I ever jump is if my momentum is already leading me into it and i'm face to face with a Heavy. Then I jump over then whip out my Nova's and charge mid-air and strike as soon as I land. If i'm lucky I just killed him if I either missed or he was packing armor so has just a little health left whip out the SMG and finish up OR die trying. |
