Please, fix matchmaking. I made this alt to test out what it would be like to play a Commando suit as well as experience what a 'new' player would have to face when leaving academy.
It's absolutely terrible. I would be very surprised that new players would want to stick around; I know that there are those that will but once you step out of academy, the feeling of not being entirely able to contribute to matches is a terrible feeling. You can Logi, sure, but if you're not planning on playing a Logi then what is the purpose? It might be helpful to gain experience in this role but it's defeating the purpose of playing. The 'Adapt or Die' is a logical fallacy in this regard.
It's probably one of the worst grinds that I've experienced in any game just trying to cap my SP on this new guy. I have fun with Dust on my other guys and I typically play even when I cap my SP but this? This would make me want to quit if I didn't have a guy to fall back on.
I just can't see how this is allowed to continue. I am aware that matchmaking is being worked on but this should be a priority for one of the next updates.
If anything, new players need a 3x SP boost during academy - maybe leaving academy with 1.5 million to 2 million SP. I understand that the focus of Dust was to make it 'difficult' in terms of the time investment of gaining skills but the SP gap between characters leaving Academy and even a guy with 1.5 million SP is a huge amount of gear.
Please. Fix this. This game needs new life and we should be encouraging people to continue want to play. |

They're working on the matchmaking, i believe it will come in 1.4. (Don't quote me though o.O) I could only imagine how difficult it must be to alter a matchmaking system. So I guess we gata be patient. Though i totally agree with you! These poor newbies are getting a bad first impression |

It actually shouldn't be that hard to implement. I write expressions at work for 3d assets and it's not that hard. Alot of software developers have scripts that automate alot of the work. It's pretty much a string of commands that dictate who's goes where. I think the main thing would be how they want match making to work. Basing it on SP sounds good, but corp people are always mixing top players and beginners for training. Maybe using an averaging based expression would work. Team 1 == team 2*squad average SP. They have programmers that could translate stuff like that quickly, although I'm sure they are spread thin as companies don't usually hire more people unless there are new projects. But CCP will have to move quickly to keep new player and get them hooked enough to buy AUR and DLC packs. |

I don't think I capped out for the first month I played. I didn't even notice. Then I started capping out once I joined a corp. TBH I think issues with leaving the academy initially are a result of poor choices as a result of a gimped new player experience instead of something more comprehensive and useful. If you know what you're doing, leaving the academy on a new character isn't a big deal at all. |

It's not that big of a deal but as a brand new player, I can imagine how awful this is. Playing with some of these guys is just..well, if anyone experienced has played academy they know how it is. Going into 'live' matches as a brand new, gear/SP-gimped player has to be atrocious. I met a couple of guys who say they just make new characters to stay in academy. |
