Please allow me the opportunity once a week to pay you 5 dollars to respec my SP.
So that week if I feel like experiencing a different aspect of your game I can do so.
I have 15m SP and I have only experience 10% of what your game has to offer because I am terrified of 'wasting' SP.
I play Minmitar Scout. I will never experience holding a heavy weapon, or most sidearms or most light weapons (at least not for several years) without the ability to respec my SP because I am very serious about specializing and do not want a marginal toon.
I am an 8 year long eve player, I have one toon over 100m SP and 3 others over 50m. I know all about specialization and planning your SP. And from a pure MMO perspective relish the SP system without respecs.
I have also been playing FPS for 15 years and know what makes me happy when playing them. A big part of it is I can play a FPS based on my mood. When I am in a BFI (brute force and ignorance) mood I hop in a heavy/tank and charge into battle. When I am in a sneaky mood I play the scout/spy class etc. Now I realize Dust as part of the MMO aspect can not change this drastically with every death/match. But please allow me the ability once a week to 'feel different' and experience a different aspect of your game... you know keep things fresh! |

Do you have some links on the topic? I would love to read what the devs have said specifically. I feel like this is a FPS game appeal issue that is being looked at in a way that is detrimental to the player base in the long run.
I feel like right now the pushback is not about balance or ppl taking advantage of fits, but a business model based around alts vs mains. I can train a weak alt to play other things but I can not respec the toon I am emotionally attached to... which is a MMO thing.
So we are in a gray area of MMO/FPS that has never been dealt with before. The two genre's have different 'sticking' factors among players to keep them addicted.. i mean playing :)
MMO is more of a long term emotional attachment and FPS is a quick fix endorphin rush. I want to play the toon I am emotionally attached to and I know CCP wants me to because I spend money on it. At the same time I want my endorphin rush not to be stifled by conflicts with irreversible decisions I have to make that conflict with my emotional enjoyment.
... sounds sapy, but its the science of marketing and I feel that over the years it will become more conflicted and make it very hard for new players to take the plunge. |

RedZer0 MK1 wrote:A lack of respects isn't new or exciting. If the idea is to push passive boosters for alts, its not working, at least for me. I bought AUR during the beta since I would get it back, and be able to try new things. Money can be made and fun could had, but on a much larger scale with the introduction of respects. Even a free respec system would do wonders for the game. If you don't want to respec, then don't. Simple. But I would like to see this game prosper, and a lack of respects will never do that.
Totally agree. I have no alts, I love my main and I want to spend my RL cash on my main. I think there is a large portion of the player base that feels similar. |
