I don't understand the design decision to make complex logi/assault/sentinel etc suits only require the base dropsuit skill to level 3.
IE todays progression for medium assault looks like this: Basic Standard -> Basic Advanced -> Assault Standard -> Assault Advanced -> Assault Prototype
Now who would ever use a standard assault or a prototype basic suit? Those are just redundant with the current system and the progression should look like this:
Basic Standard -> Assault Standard -> Basic Advanced -> Assault Advanced -> Basic Prototype -> Assault Prototype
Sure this would mean we would need to spend more SP in total to get to the Assault proto suit but it makes way more sense and people would get faster into a prototype suit, it would just be the basic instead of the assault to begin with. |

Specialized suits required racial suit V before the skill tree overhaul in mid-may (?). It has been changed amongst others because of player feedback.
I have proposed a system identical to yours a few months ago but the tech didn't support such a system at that point (so i was told at least) and it somewhat deviates from the tratitional skill tree design. |

It used to be worse. We needed level 5 in basic just to get into the class suits. I was stuck in the standard logi for a while until we got the optional respec. They really do need to get rid of the basic suits, it's kind of redundant. Imagine what all that data could be used for. |

If I had a say in anything it would be transitioning into this.
Basic Standard -> Basic Advanced (3) ----------------------->Specialist Advanced(1) ----> Specialist Prototype.(3)
Get rid of the current Basic Standard. Shift down the slot and fit arrangement,
Give both Basic and Specialist bonuses.
and once enough basic suits make it in and specialist varieties then turn it into
Basic (3)-> Specialist
There would be a basic suit that pre-empts every specialist role So a medium frame with like 2 equipment slots would pre-empt the logi class. Or a heavy suit with two light weapons. |

Well the SP requirement is lower...
So that doesn't hurt. If you don't care for the racial bonuses. |

Not everybody wants to spend 2.5 million sp getting a proto suit. Especially if the specialisations available don't really benefit your playstyle. You're also overlooking the proto heavy. You can't use 2 heavy damage mods on a sentinel. |

But assualt and logistics clearly are the better suites. Thats why you spend more. |

It's 2.7 million skill points to get a prototype specialty suit, whereas it's only around 1.2 million to get a prototype basic suit. That's pretty substantial.
I also believe they are going to be implementing bonuses for basic suits as well. Basic suits will be more jack of all trades master of none suits and specialty suits will be, well, specialized. In my opinion to really achieve that they'd also have to change the fitting layout for all suits since currently light, medium, and heavy are identical to scout, assault, and sentinel respectively. |

Everything except basic standard needs to be get removed. Except in the heavy category, since they have different slots from basic to Sentinel. |

Because what you get to level three you have a tough choice.
For far less SP you can get a proto level basic suit, or you can split off and get a specialize suit that requires more SP(really like a lot more)but comes with added bonuses and cost less isk per suit. |
