Alright, as a Mom of an 8 year old girl who wants a cell phone and make-up, yet still uses ufc moves on her brother, I understand that children can be....trying.
Unfortunately I'm learning that a good number of the younger generation players are, well jerks.
I ran into one the other day who begged me, without mic mind you, to squad up with him.
I'm wayyy out of war academy, he was not. And didn't get that I couldn't go inot battles with him unless they were merc.
Then we went into a real match *cough not cough* and he got blown to crud by advanced and protos. Complained that I didn't protect his dropship.
In retrospect, odds are good I won't even notice a dropship in air on my squad unless someone points it out to me.
Anyway...i'm rambling. I told this young boy that he might be better off if I left his squad (my CEO is forever lamenting that I'm nice) so that he can finish war academy and not deal with protos so quickly.
I think I got guilt tripped, or not, probably don't care if that's what he tried. Regardless, I got tired of hearing him squeak out, "great and magnificent -insert name- die for my country and my squad"
Anyone else have that urge to ask the youngsters to at least show that they can play a game like this?
Heck, he complained about me not killing anyone while I was spawning in....hence, aggravated assault.
As a side not of thought to myself that; yeah, i'm sharing: when I teach my daughter to play, I will point out that being polite to the adults go a loooong way |

I've been pretty lucky. Most kids I've found on here aren't so bad. CoD kids are the worst IMO. It's the generation that's never taken a real ass beating or been punished other than some BS feel good time out. Spoiled brats.
Neither one of my kids acts that way...hell even my dog knows how to behave

Yeah, I've had similar experiences and as a nice guy, I always try to be kind and helpful not only by giving gameplay tips but also by trying to teach what good online behaviour is - i.e. not spamming the heck out of the local or team chat with nonsense or whining.
It's hard graft and seldom rewarding, so sometimes I just can't be bothered, which is sad in itself. |

He was all like **** come blow this DS up now.. WTF he killed me again. You guys need to get over here and kill him NOW.
I'm sitting there like , hey man we are still alive.. if I die and he is still there I will try.
He continued on, I just started pretending to not here it |

Something I learnt while working for the US Census:
"In order for there to be an average, half the selected samples need to be below it."
I had that epiphany while doing data entry, some of the stupid **** people would put down would've amazed you. |

My worst Nice girl experiences are all with the 12-15 yr old crowd spamming me with messages all the time. They're generally non-offensive, just en-masse.
It kinda makes my skin crawl a bit and yeah, my normal squad mates get a laugh at my expense. |

I block them, or get out of squad fast. Although some are rather persistant. It won't kick them as far as I know.

No offense, if you don't get it then you might be one of the one's who gets ignored a bit as well. Although...I do recall shooting you a few times so I doubt it.
My point is, for the challenged individuals; these kids are jerks with no manners and if you are going to let your own kid play, teach them to be respectful of other players.

What age range is considered a kid here?
I've only heard three kids in this game. The first time their were two, obviously best friends, sounded about 8-10, and I actually ended up in that squad. They were bad, but it was fun. They had a dropship at first and they raised it gloriously only to crash it seconds later. Then they kept calling in a miltia tank and we had a good time with that. I suspect it didn't have any upgrades at all so you can guess how that turned out. It was good to here such enthusiasm when my own was beginning to wane.
The second time it was one young kid, only kept calling the name so I can't really guess the age, in the barge who was calling out for somebody who didn't answer. That was frickin' annoying. He stopped about a minute into the fight.
I've never seen a kid player that was a jerk though in this game. Actually, I haven't ever seen anyone in this game on my side that was a jerk. I rarely here mics as is.
He is the core gamer, the bastard child of the casual and hardcore gamer. He invests the former's effort and cries when he doesn't get the latter's results.

To be fair, I've met more....jerky mid 20's than anything else, however, what I qualify as a kid tends to run the range of 6-21. My coworkers constantly bemoan their never ending fate of being called kiddo inspite of the drinking age status.
I've run decent teams with kids (in that age range) and don't have an overall problem with them. It's more the way that they speak to a person that really makes the difference. Oh...and the lack of cyber stalking. lol! |
