DUST 514 players, same as EVE players, have a world of their own where they exist. Each planet has a "map", where players can build forts, can claim map territory, can engage in pve. Something like Wow, but - with territory claims, and everything else EVE brings.
I mean - there is this element of pve, mining, killing NPCs, and so on, in a free PVP world, that is a giant 3D ground map. Where you can build structures and claim territory. Outside an "empire high sec area" where everyone starts. Something like EVE but on the ground.
Also, all equipment and player movements between planets would require interaction with EVE ships. And there would be spaceports, NPC, and player built, where ships could land.
A player could move around (he and his DUST gear and suits) being transported by EVE players. If blown up... maybe he will not lose his DUST gear, just be stranded somewhere on route. There is a lot to think about and balance, still - the idea of one world, and EVE on a ground map.
I'd imagine procedurally generated terrain, and defending/attacking PI installations (which maybe should become DUST bunny owned), PI installations would become much more expensive (somewhat akin to a POS), NPC defenders could be placed to buy time for recruitment of dusties (ie, stock the command centers with militants or marines), defensive installations could be built, etc.
Right now, its just capture the flags on the same maps, over and over again...
They poured so much into developing it... but as far as gameplay, there's so little content.
Not that many maps, only two real game modes (kill the other team, or hold checkpoints, and kill the other team), no PvE content, etc....
With procedurally generated terrain, you can make entire worlds, without taking much installation space. With player placed structures on that procedurally generated terrain, you'd have all the maps you want.
Why must there always be an MCC? Why can't you have two sides, fighting over a planet, both with their own planet side industry... MCCs and warbarges should only be needed for an attacker that doesn't have a foothold on the planet already.
Where are the maps where one tries to attack a planetary command center and place explosives/overload the core/something like that? Just a simple attacker and defender role. You could do a clone limit thing (let the attacker bring many more clones, if they have the supplies to do so), or a time limit thing (after X minutes, the command center charges a weapon to destroy the MCC/the command centers constant barrage at an MCC kills it, etc) |
