I log on and form a squad, other squads in my corp are formed and we want to fight for a district right then!
we don't want to have to wait 24hrsthen play at whatever the timer is set too.
we might not be on then or at least don't want to set our watch to it..
planetary conquest should be an eb and flow of constant battles and ownership of districts should change constantly..
my idea should be to make it dirt cheap to fight (the cost of suits is enough for players to spend on) and reduce the 24hr timer (then whatever timer they have set) to 1 hr to start a fight..
we are ready, we place a war deceleration on the district to fight in one hour, the other team has an hour to form up...
who ever wins that fight will own the district.
no messing with timers, everyone gets to fight for districts often...
we want to fight, but we dont want to wait..
obviously the idea needs work,, but i really feel being able to fight for a district within an hour and for a small amount of isk will get poeple (including all small corps) fighting much more..
also, when pve gets introduced it could be a case that if the enemy don't show for a fight you have some form of PVE fight to claim the district..

This would place the defenders at a huge disadvantage. 1 hour? They might even not notice at all. Let alone will be able to put a team together to defend. |

maybe some form of mail or warning on screen to show its under attack in one hour, with a counter,,,
yes it puts them at a disadvantage,, but im also saying lets not make owning a district such a 'big deal' a constant eb and flow, loose it, then after another few hours try and take it back

an FPS game should be about fighting,, not sitting on a district, or waiting 24hrs to fight
if you had a team ready, you could line up a district every hour,, try and take 3-4 districts in 3-4 hrs, yea you might loose them later, but hell more fights where had. more fun was had,, |

The reinforcement window is there to ensure the defenders are online. If we don't have the reinforcement window you would just see constant attacks when the defenders are sleeping. Not fun.
Dropping the warning down to a minimum of 2-4 hours instead of 24 hours would be a good idea though. That is something I've wanted all the time. |

Some people have to work and the timers are set so that the corporation attacked has time to get their mercs on the field. Smaller corps with members spread from all over the globe need time to get the word out.
How about adding PVE districts that no one can actually hold but offer a good pay out when defeated. I'm not thinking about PVE that sets itself to what the number of players is but is static and always the same difficulty. Maybe set up multiple PVE instances at varying difficulty that pay based on that difficulty. Just thinking out loud so to speak.

Now onto PC pvp, I'm thinking it would be good to give the defender one objective closest to MCC at the beginning of the match so that it feels like we are actually defending rather than just running a typical skirmish match. I understand that if the defender loses they lose their district but, if we are actually defending an area why do we have zero held ground at the beginning. This makes it feel as we own but we don't inhabit it. There should be some inherent advantage to the defender at the beginning of a match in my opinion.
What I mean is I'm not going to buy a house and then never move in. |
