I have 9 million SP and want to do something different. I have my Mass Driver right where I want it, and have my dropsuit right where i want it. I am advanced in MDs, ARs, SCRs, and ASCRs and I am standard in LRs, SLs, and SRs. I have my core stuff spec'd to how I want it. I have my LLAV spec'd (I was hoping I could use it how CCP wanted it to be used. A transport vehicle that followed the squad and repaired and provided a mobile CRU. Didn't work out. Couldn't fit a armor repairer and a mobile CRU on at the same time.) And I have my tank spec'd where I want it.
But now, I want to try being a scout. I fitted a MLT Gallente Scout suit with a militia shotgun and std nova knives. I. Loved. It. I couldn't get enough of how much people just didn't see me and I only had a MLT profile dampener! So I came here to ask you scouts, what do you suggest I do? I am looking to go down the Gallente route because I am a firm believer in the Gallente ways (I know my avatar is Caldari, when I first played the game I didn't worry about what my character looked like because I figured it wouldn't really matter. This was also before i knew anything about Eve lore). I want to be invisible, but also able to take some hits. And I like this shotgun/nova knife combo.

My advice? Run. I don't mean run towards a target or an objective. Just run away. Run back to your medium suit. Hug your corp mates. And never try anything like this ever again. |

complex shield extenders and complex shield enhancers would help in taking a few shots, mind you that you will have to keep moving to keep you from dying. Remote Explosives are your friends. and adds another OHK weapon. great for ducking around corners to heal. drop one, and set the trap.

I use the Minmatar Suit for the bonus damage to my knives but I always stack my lows with Kinetic Catalizers so I can run super fast. I also run with the M209 Assault SMG, Flux grenades, and Remote Explosives. Lots of fun. Scout is the ultimate way to play this game IMO, even if we are super squishy. |

As someone who has been using profile dampeners and passive scanning in general almost a year now, let me tell you now that the profile dampeners are a wasted low slot. Passive scanning doesn't not work at all, and once you skill into scouts, your passive skills will drop you below what almost all active scanners can see anyway. Speed is you best defense.
Honestly, I'm of the opinion that profile dampeners are for assault and logis that want to be stealthy. Scouts will never need the dampeners because they start out with a lower profile, and the more skills you have, the lower that number gets. The medium suits need the help to drop from radar, and have the fitting room/ EHP to fit profile dampeners.
Before Uprising, when the radar actually worked, I ran a stealth Assault suit. This worked, and now doesn't, because people knew the radar worked, would detect out to a good range, and actually had good intel. Today, the radar gets largely ignored, so trying to game something that doesn't matter anyway is a waste of fitting. |

Ahoy Spy, long time no see. Fitting a Scout (as far as I can tell...) is pretty straight forward: you want Dampeners & whatever kinda speed boost you prefer. Other than that put as much shield as you can get. I went Minja myself...but you know me, hella Minmatar proud (gotta love that Nova bonus). As far as equipment goes, whatever works for you. I prefer REs, but I get why alot of Scouts bring uplinks. I know Tacosalad doesn't even bring equipment most of the time cuz he tanks as much as possible. Hope this helped & I'll see you on the battlefield. If you ever see me on the Red Team feel free to challenge me to a knife fight. o7 That is all. Eriknaught out. END TRANSMISSION. |

If you want to take it proto, I'd suggest a profile dampener, sprint mod, stamina mod, armour repairer and a damage mod. It's flimsy as hell, but the speed, stealth and punch are astonishing. |

I run gal scouts and it's a difficult suit to get to grips with but if you're planning on using nova knives, you're wasting your time by missing out on the minja's bonus.
I totally agree with disgruntled that you're also wasting your low slot with the dampener, as they will not be doing really anything for you. They only affect the tiny 10m passive scan radius everyone has anyway and that's not even the most inner circle on the radar!
If you really want to stick with the gal scout, invest in armor reppers as much as you can - at least one complex repper is pretty much essential. As well as that get a kincat on that badboy and your choice between shields and damage mods depending on how aggressive you play. |

I love my scout suit but I feel it puts my team at a disadvantage in non-skirmish gametypes. |

I love scouts. I've been Type2 before racial split and Minmatar Ninja until respec. I since then went back to Minmatar Logi, to spread love instead of destruction. I'm a pacifist at heart, so don't shoot the medic. ;-)
Now I just run full BPO Dragonfly with two Toxin SMGs when I get bored. It's fun, but you need to accept one thing: you will die a lot. As soon as you've been seen you are as good as dead. You will bleed precious clones and ruin your K/D. But as long as you stay focused and avoid frontal encounters you will have heaps of fun. It's less about what you bring, more how you use it. Remember that your main weapon should be striking fast, hitting hard and moving out of sight swiftly.
I'd say: armor rep, kinetics, dampeners, one weapon of your choice up to prof 3, damage mods. Godspeed.
And remember to sing "Sie sind das Essen und wir sind die J+ñger!" when harassing heavies. |

Shotgun nova knife is a redundant combo. You don't really need two point blank range weapons. Drop the nova knives, hit detection on them is weird I've heard. Replace them with SMGs or Scambler pistols. Drop the dampeners, your base profile is small enough. No one uses active scanners anyway and passive scanning is poo. Replace with Kinetic Catalyzers and Endurance mods. Shield Extenders on your high slots. Remote explosives as your equipment.
If you plan to deep into gallente scout you should also skill up scan range. |

go scout its a fun and rewarding challenge
I would advise you to only skill up to the advanced suit
going proto is very fun but you will die more than any other proto suit |

Scouts are really fun to play I use a Minmatar dropsuit with an assault rifle and nova knifes
Having shotgun and nova knifes build is weird since it makes the nova knifes useless.

Actually- the shotty is a terrific backup weapon to the knives. Both are CQC-entric. |
