We've been told that infantry are getting looked at in 1.4, but the scope of this comment wasn't very clearly elaborated on yet. We're in the process of scheduling a meeting with CCP Flying Scottsman (The lead game designer) and CCP Remnant (The designer currently in charge of overall balancing for infantry) to get a discussion going about what will be changing, how they go about their balancing process in the first place, etc. Our intent in this meeting is to further push our crusade of "If you spend like 20 minutes a day for a day for two actually talking to your playerbase about a change you're thinking about making, you'll save yourself weeks of re-tooling and re-adjusting in the long run"
As far as scouts go, we've heard nothing specific about it, but we can confirm that CCP agree's they are in a pretty crap place. When being told about the upcoming aiming improvements concern was expressed that this might shaft scouts even further, so we're hoping they took that kind of stuff into account if scouts are on the balancing plate for 1.4!
As for what can/can't be hotfixed, this is a murky point.
They /apparently/ have the ability to hotfix in balancing changes to almost every stat but range with very short notice. We've never got a solid answer on why they let things fester for so long if that's the case, though. We're at a stage where trying to figure out what they can/can't do with their tech is something we're trying to get answers on so we can better direct feedback, but we're encountering resistance for whatever reason on a lot of stuff.
When I've got something solid about the state of scouts, I'll seek permission to share it ASAP. |

Valve has shown a way forward to this and it is a great way to help create content for your game.
The ARMA series is also a great example of this.
Admitting your team is small and limited is the first step, figuring out how to force multiply is the next.
And player content is a great force multiplier.

Then they should def look to build on that with dust in the future, its not hard to get players when you have a decent core product out to start making models, guns and animations and maps or sockets for you. In a year or so if things improve and they get the game sorted out that should be something they should look at doing in order to force multiply content and development. |

Well CCP did say they were interesting in working in the steam workshop but that's likely more to do with Unity development and making games based on that engine. |

Yeah but which engine/game is going to be the one with the lower budget, less devs struggling to get content pushed out?
Plus making models for the U3 engine can be easy if the devs let ppl know the poly count and parameters of stuff and that sort of thing. if done right it can be a boon to both the devs and the playerbase. plus a steam workshop is a natural fit for a FPS like dust and the U3 engine. |

What happened with the weather effects? I've been looking forward to this as a potential means to provide cover to flying vehicles.
Something else that i've been wondering. When the missing racial vehicles are introduced. Will we be able to spec into our races version? I'm minmatar, but am forced to fly caldari as my preferred choice is not available.
It doent need to be a complete respec. Just transfer of skill points invested in the caldari dropships into my races counterparts.

+1 Great post. Glad to see an update.
Thoughts: Super bummed PVE is shelved. However, from what I've seen with where balancing and core mechanics are going I can definitely say it's a good tradeoff.
My Priority List: Fix LLAVs > Weapon Balance > Armor vs. Shield balance > Core Mechanics > New Game Modes > New Maps > Rounding out racial weapons/vehicles > PVE Content > New vehicle types > New weapon types
Glad to see a few of my high points getting hit in 1.3/1.4 |

Very nice post, good to get some info about what's going on now, shame about PvE tho, was really looking forward to that.
Btw, any word on MTACs? I'm not really expecting anything extremely soon, but I am wondering if would it be something we might see this year, or is it in the "SOONGäó" list? I'm saving up my SP for when they hit, but if its gonna take a year+, I'm thinking I should probably start using that SP for something else in the meantime.
Also mainly out of curiosity, has there been any mention of trophies? This one wouldn't make a huge difference to me either way, but still been wondering for a while, might be interesting to have. |

Thanks for taking the time and letting the community know these things. But is there ever going to be anything new for the heavy class. We never get any new suits and it took months for them to put an aurum steemline out. Or a new heavy class weapon |

PvE needs to be just crammed into the game in any state as far as I'm concerned. We've seen it in trailers for years now.
I had a very simple idea for PvE which is we attack a remote controlled research station which is literally just loads of red aligned turrets shooting at you. This should be very easy to do using current mechanics and would fix a lot of problems with the game in terms of balance while they get to work fixing that balance. |

Dust has been barely out for a year, PVE wasn't even shown in a trailer for about 6 months. |

Sorry just bleh, there are so many other fights to be fighting right now and some things will get pigeon holed.
On a scale of 1 to 10 on things worth fighting for I consider this a 1 sadly. The things the CPM are fighting for right now should be considered a near 15 or above in terms of urgency and the sorts. So far I am not sure of the results of the fight over that topic but it had delayed a post so something is going on CCP's side at least. |
