So today I speced into my burst SP and found out something awful. Unlinke the burst HMG the SP and AR burst weapons do LESS damage per second then the regular, or the same. Burst weapons are supposed to have higher DPS but lower damage per bullet right? well here are the numbers.
KLO-1 SP ~ISK - 2,955 ~RPM - 444.4 ~Damage - 84.0 DPS = 622.16
CAR-9 Burst SP ~ISK - 4,845 ~RPM - 740.7 ~Damage - 50.4 DPS = 622.19
(.03 more damage for 1,890 MORE ISK?)
GEK-38 AR ~ISK - 10,770 ~RPM - 750.0 ~Damage - 35.7 DPS = 446.25
GK-13 Burst AR ~ISK - 17,625 ~RPM - 833.3 ~Damage - 32.1 DPS = 445.86
(.39 LESS damage for 6,855 MORE ISK?)
MH-82 HMG ~ISK - 10,770 ~RPM - 2000.0 ~Damage - 18.9 DPS = 630
MLR-A Burst HMG ~ISK - 17,625 ~RPM - 4000.0 ~Damage - 14.2 DPS = 946.67
(HMG are working right)
Equation - (RPM/60) * D = DPS D= damage
So what we have here is a broken gun. Burst are supposed to give you less damage per bullet but reward you with MORE damage per second, however this seems to be false for the AR and SP. Instead you are paying more ISK for a weapon that does LESS damage. Is everyone OKAY with that? Could someone from CCP answer this and maybe fix it? |

I am not really sure that burst weapons are supposed to have higher dps. Bear in mind according to CCP the burst variants are placeholder for the Minmatart weapons, so basicly they should have better Range but lower DPS than the assault variants.
So it should be something like this
Assault (Gallente) Very High DPS - Very Short to Short Range
Burst (Minmatar) High DPS - Short to Medium Range
Tactical (Amarr) Medium DPS - Medium to Long Range
Breach (Caldari) low DPS - long Range
But mostly all placeholder weapons are broken and I wish CCP would get rid of them until they get fixed...

Dunno about the placeholder thing, but Burst is pretty good in that it has a scope, decent range etc.
Still prefer the TAR over the Burst though, since it's not easy to get all 3 bullets in each burst to land. |

Burst deals that damage more accurately and in a shorter period, tho. In my experience, the tight crosshairs of the burst HMG lets you pop out of cover and melt people, then drop right back in. |

They are not placeholders, every race is supposed to have a variant like the others. |
