I don't know that a straight no cap would be the best option. I think a tiered system were players gain SP at different rates depending on how much SP they have along with no SP cap would be better. |

That is honestly just not possible. Okay nothings impossible but the sheer volume of boosting required to do that would be so easily trackable that the account could easily be banned for exploiting. Meanwhile a typical no lifer isnt going to continue to play even if uncapped past a certain point of content. How many 15M+ people do you know that still log in weekly to hit their cap. Not many because they dont even want to grind that amount anymore. They are content with what they have.
Meanwhile it would kill the need for respecs because if a person gets nerfed they can opt to grind the SP needed to get out at a quicker rate. Albeit it will still take time there can be short isolated bursts of grinding followed by longer intervals of simple casual play.
The only reason the cap exists is to sell boosters. There is no logical reason to it. With both boosters active and hitting cap every week it still takes well over 5 years to unlock everything. The it forces specialization nonsense mentality has no bearing because given enough time you will have versatility in your fittings regardles. Many have multiple proto weapons while others opt for a suit and a vehicles while still others get 2 suits. Few if any players are going to power grind to have all the suits and all the weapons and all the vehicles, they are still going to grind out the 4 or 5 things THEY WANT and then coast.
Moreover it has ZERO impact on the longevity of the game because anyone who thinks that grinding SP=content and therefore a reason to log on is kidding themselves and its a pathetic attempt to mask that there is nothing else in this game to do but acquire SP.
No SP CAP settles a lot of issues and it would simply open up the possibility of emergent gameplay and people venturing and trying new things because the penalty wont be as severe for experimentation. The SP CAP is single handedly the worst idea for progression in this game. |

How about 3x SP all the time? Seems to feel about right based on the ridiculous costs of skills. As it is now I have to grind for a few weeks (no boosters) just to get a single level in electronics (5). |

Realistically that's how it should be, this isn't supposed to be an instant-gratification type of game. If you skilled into every proto everything in a month, what would be the point.
I honestly think the cap is a pretty good idea, but yes, a major reason behind it is obviously to sell boosters. If CCP's main goal was to keep the noobs competitive, a much more obvious solution is to make it so you get, say, 3x the SP until you hit a million, then 2x until you hit, I dunno, 3-5 million, and then at the current rate once you hit 5 mil or so. That's a much more logical way to help new players catch up. |

I agree that there should be no SP cap but I don't think CCP will get rid of it until they've created enough unique content for people to buy. Otherwise, no SP cap might negatively affect booster sales and it might actually end up causing players to leave because capping out is the only "important" goal this game has to keep casuals playing. |

The rate of skillpoints acquired per game should follow a logarithmic scale over a given time period. (Where x is number of games played, and y is the total number of SP gained over that period
In other words for each suggestive game you should get a decreasing number of skillboints, but that rate of decrease in skillpoints should also be decreasing.
Each week would be a period of skillpoint gain, a new week would reset you back at 0.
This would allow players who couldn't play much still get a good amount of skillpoints and no-lifers gain more SP, but they would have to use exponentially more effort for diminishing returns. |

I have the best idea!
lets just start off with all the skills!
then we don't need sp!
and all you whiny QQers who want instant gratification can STFU, get bored and move the hell on to some other instantly gratifying game you'll tire of in a month....
then they can reinstitute the sp cap and the skill progression for the rest of us who don't have the attention span of 3 year old and we can play our effing game in peace....
you stupid whiny self entitled effing brats
before you reply to this know I wont see it because your opinion means nothing and I wont be revisiting this thread.

More active sp will make the sp problems worse not better. We would be better off getting only 1 sp per wp with no cap and two or three times the passive sp. |
