If this were the real world there would be a lot of logis sitting at home drawing unemployment benefits.
For the sake of the game post in your local chat for new players to NOT choose logi.
It's staggering the amount of logis there are.
And one more thing new player. Pick a role and stick with it. You have to specialize in this game. The skill tree is too broad to branch out into multiple areas. I'm at 18 million skill points and I'm skilled into one suit and two weapons (one being a swarm launcher). The Eve diehards have the respec issue locked down so please find a person to help you choose your path. Join Dust University or someone similar before you spend a single skill point.
I know a guy with 15 million SP and is so spread out that he might as well be a brand new player.
We need a rookie channel that comes default with the new players and the academy needs to be extended to at least 200,000 WP. I made an alt Sunday night when there was a PSN main account issue for some and it's staggering how big the jump is. I made it out of the academy in a few hours without really trying (avoiding hacks on installations and such to accumulate fewer WP).
This post is starting to ramble on, but the point is CCP obviously doesn't understand the dire need for player retention so we've got to help or all the time and money many of us have invested will go down the drain as the population continues to decline.

If you are a new player, come to sand castles. It's our public channel. Just post up that you are a new player that needs help.
I'm not guaranteeing that you'll find help that very moment, but keep trying. Squad up and ask questions.
Just post NEW PLAYER LFS
I'm sure other corps can post up in here and offer the same. |

This isn't about me. I'm fine.
I'm talking about new players. There are too many logi players in this game.
If a CPM reads this I wonder if you can ask CCP for the number of players spec'd into logi. I would wager 5,000,000 isk that it's 50% of the player base.

Why do I never get rezed when there are tons of blue-dots around me and its perfectly safe to rez? Why do I have to carry my own Nanohives and Drop Uplinks if I want either? (note: playing with my corp alleviates these two points somewhat, but not completely, especially if not in a full squad or when I am the designated Logi) Too many Logis...yeah right.
I'm not going to argue this point. I'm a recruiting officer. I've been around the game for a long time. I talk to a ton of players. |

Look guys this thread isn't about the current logi nerf or my issues with the game, etc.
I think part of the issue is that it's easier for newer players to accumulate WPs as a logi than anything else because they don't have to kill people.
I'm not sure what you are talking about with the reviving. I'm hearing people complaining again that they are getting picked up too much by guys farming WPs. |

I'm not going to argue this point. I'm a recruiting officer. I've been around the game for a long time. I talk to a ton of players. If you're getting a ton of Logi-type players interested in your corp, then you are probably catering to that demographic over others, maybe even (unknowingly) seeking them out. In-game experience tells me there are very few Logis out there, especially new Logis. Heck, I barely see Logis as part of other established corps, its that bad. I have to rely on my corpmate Logis or none at all. If I happen to get picked-up by a Blue-dot logi or healed by one, I count myself VERY lucky. Does this mean I won't pick up people I see down and won't drop Hives in an active combat area or Uplinks in a key location? No, I do that because its my role (and the points don't hurt either)
I'm not recruiting logis. My recruiting thread states that we have plenty.
90% of the people that post in the corporation recruitment thread looking for a corp are logis.
Just because you aren't getting repped or picked up by blue dots doesn't mean they aren't logis. It just means they aren't very good. Which is the other part of my post about finding a corp that can help you along.
And this isn't a recruiting tactic on my part. We have a 7 mil SP minimum. But like I said above we will help out new players by squading up with them and helping them out.

That sounds like an extremely boring way to play the game. If being the best of the best is important to you, you're probably right about being super focused - that's cool - enjoy you the game the way you enjoy it. I'd much rather have all weapons unlocked to level 3, than have one maxed out through the absurdly expensive reload and fitting skills, which only gives you a tiny, situational advantage in combat. For me, being able to swap between decent logi, frontline and AV fits makes the game a lot of fun. Some new players would probably be happier specializing, others being jack of all trades. It just depends on the players' personalities.
I agree with you that it would be nice to be able to specialize into multiple roles. In previous builds I was spread out as I found the role I wanted to play so mine isn't the greatest example.
I think the conversation we are having here is a huge reason why respecs should be a part of the game along with at least 2 million SP given to new players. |

It just depends on the players' personalities. Tl;dr OP has a point, but a narrow view of Dust. I'm one of these new players OP is referring to I guess and I agree with this point. Put it this way - Ideally I want to spec into scout to scan and recon (I.e be a Scout), but with scanning skills/mechanics the way they are and only 2/4 scout suits available, why would I want to start specialising down that path yet? I won't be spending ANY points Into dropsuit command or any more than the lv1 ive got into the 3 sensor skills until I hear somethin remotely solid on these issues from CCP. I'm at nearly 2mil, most of my SP are in core skills, but I have some in AR, Sniper and Shotgun, as well as Hives, Uplinks, and reps. I can counter snipe when we are being sniped, I can help keep that Heavy alive (or revive them otherwise) or resupply that FG or whatever, or sneak round and get an uplink so we have somewhere to flank with. I can use Remote exp. as well, but lets ignore that. Could I do any of those competitively in PC? Well no, but why would you have someone at 2mil SP in PC, regardless of whether they have specialised or not? I can't see how the ~250kSP is going to hurt that badly when I'm at 7milSP. At least so much as to slog my way through the grind using only ARs and Hives every match, every clone. Give noobs like me a clue, make sure we aren't trying to armour tank our Caldari starter fits, direct us to swarms and FG if we want to AV, or shotguns and nova knives if we love cqc, but especially considering there is still new content, mechanics and balance changes to come - trying to get new players to specialise like we are in 10 year old EVE just seems counter productive. We will get bored and/or frustrated, leave and prove all these naysayers right about CCP wasting time and resources. You are going at it the right way. Just get your core skills up.
My biggest problem is when I hear a guy with 7 or 8 million and he's got a proto suit in one class and an advanced or even a proto in another. This is crazy.
I think it's okay to go to L3 in different weapons to get an idea of what you like. When I say spec'd into I mean you are getting into proficiency.
I just created alt to go scout and it's tough. The biotics are an SP sink. Shotguns require L4 operation (WHY??). You need to get your scanning skills up.
I'm running around in Dren BPOs mostly and skilling into scout skills as I go. It's brutal.
When I was a new player there wasn't an SP gap like this. If you ever needed to know how out of touch with the actual gameplay and playerbase CCP is you can look at the 10,000 WP limit for academy. This should be at least 200,000.
If new players want to get into the major leagues they should join a corp and get drug in via sqauds.
