Of ET's and NVGs
While generally referencing any non Earth-born creature, ET's in this context refers specifically to non-human organisms of advanced intelligence, equivalent or superior to that of the populi of New Eden.
If you're a recent arrival in New Eden you've no doubt been impressed by humanity's array of advanced technology in this isolated universe. Railguns, plasma rifles, inertial dampeners, biosignature scanners, energy shields, interstellar travel, and most recently consciousness migration between clones are just a handful of the incredible breakthroughs in science and engineering that are a part of ordinary life amongst this cluster of galaxies. One piece of technology is glaringly absent however, that of night vision goggles, and its lack of presence shall henceforth be explained.
You see, many, many ages ago - when humanity was just beginning to establish it's footing amongst the stars of New Eden - they were help by agents of alien intelligence. These ET's aided our civilizations in regaining lost technologies after the inter-dimensional event that severed contact with human kind's prior home universe. These ancient astronauts were kind enough to bring our pitiable species up to speed (mainly to encourage our penchant for inter-specific warfare and to maximize our efficacy at killing within those endeavors). Such an act of alien intervention would have been recognized as selflessness on a cosmic scale, except for one detail. The ET's finally made a request of us, and perplexingly it wasn't for Skittles. Instead, to our great and continuing muted consternation, they demanded we turn over all low-light amplification devices. To this day none can explain what purpose night vision goggles serve these little green (actually they have a wide diversity of sizes and complexions) men. We just carry on scouring the corners of our empires to locate the last of these devices and relinquish them. That's why you will never see (pun intended) night vision implemented to combat battlefield darkness. We'd much rather bumble about with supercharged weaponry and ludicrously expensive load outs than risk crossing the natives.
Restricted use of scopes, limited splash damage radii, excessively small magazine capacities, vehicles that serve as substitutes for projectiles, etc. are not the result of human-alien interaction. Such constraints are governed by the Molden Heath Convention, a treaty put forth by the shadowy CCP organization and signed by the major political entities of the universe. As part of the fine print this GÇ£CCPGÇ¥ reserves the right to whimsically rework any and all parts of the treaty it finds dissatisfying. That is another history altogether...

You mean did, cause they surely don't function anymore. You know, since we surrendered them to the aliens. |

I don't demand a respec at all; on the contrary, I'm of the "no more respec" camp.
I find it funny that we have FTL travel but no night vision. The second part was tacked on as an equally absurd explanation for the constant changes (albeit in most cases necessary ones) for different assets. The post was meant in a light-hearted way. There's far too much negativity on the forums. |

Let's instead be rageful about the abundance of "peace-making" Skittles we as a collective civilization have. Now that we know Spielberg was wrong, what do we do with this surplus? Weaponize them? Flay(lock) the Rainbow. |
