Because surely aiming mechanics and framerate has nothing to do with the effectiveness of different weapons and so on
So why all the balances? Because surely any "balance" we can achieve now will go into the bin once aiming is fixed

true...to an extent. Doesn't change the fact that flaylocks and contact nades are too strong though, or LLAV's are stupidly hard to kill... even harder to kill than a HAV. |

I honestly do not see the problem with aiming. It works perfectly fine for me.
The issue I see is hit detection, which can be caused by poor hit boxes / lag.
It just sounds like people want auto aim, to me. |

No, it doesn't work perfectly fine for you.
You are just incredibly bad to the point that good aim wouldn't effect you.

We have given up hope for an aim fix so the only thing left is balance.

Lol.... How would you balance DS3 vs KB/M? I think that is the hardest thing to do. Because KB/M is was superior for FPS IMO and I strictly use DS3 for console gaming (with no aim assist). I agree that aiming needs some adjustments but it is not broken (x_x). |

This is why i never(well, almost never - contact 'nades got to me) ask for balancing.
At this stage of the game, balancing is utterly pointless and a gross waste of dev time.
To state the obvious: we don't even have the basic lineup of weapons and dropsuits yet.
But far more important is that without hit detection, aiming, movement, animations, controls, etc. working as they should, balancing is a pipe dream.
Look at what happened with the scout - changes in core mechanics altered the role and balance of the suit. Same for the mass drivers, and now changes that were misguidedly made to satisfy part of the playerbase need to be unmade.
Learn the lesson peeps - wailing for balance changes is counterproductive. And pointless.
The new player experience is f****** and will remain f***** until CCP addresses, successfully, the core mechanics, followed awfully damn close by dealing with the passive sp rewards for matches.
Once CCP has accomplished these two make-it-or-break-it tasks DUST will begin to have a hope in hell of attracting a larger playerbase which will in turn give matchmaking the merest beginning of what it needs to actually work.
Balancing. We can balance and rebalance this game until it doesn't exist anymore. But it would serve us all better if we crammed core mechanics down CCP's face until they get the message and thereby save this game. Because right now we are a dead man walking. |

Except for having to play around with sensitivity after each patch, aiming seems fine. Hit detection is completely horrendous though. It's not as noticeable on some weapons, but it ruins weapons like the shotgun, nova knives, and oddly enough, the HMG. On your end it looks like aiming is the issue, but just the other day I was unlucky enough to turn to corner and meet a heavy with a boundless. Somehow, I managed to survive because his rounds couldn't connect. The guy had me dead to rights, inside his own optimal, bullets flying at me and I wasn't taking any damage. |

It has been scientifically broken down that aiming is the major problem. CCP has admitted this themselves.

Yes that is what is truly needed for Dust. Its crap FPS mechanics with aiming and hit detection seriously make this game just mediocre at best. Seriously, in this game I do fine but I do not aim nowhere near as good as I do in other shooters and Dust still makes me question why I even give it my time. I like playing with my corp but seriously make the game with more polish before adding more. This is why Dust also has a smaller fanbase is cause with poor FPS mechanics new players come in having to adjust themselves to the crap and find it not worthy to play when they can most likely just jump onto another shooter with more polish.
At least the aiming and hit detection is nowhere as bad as it was when it launched in closed beta in April...god that was awful. But seriously CCP maybe you should hire some people who are more familiar with FPS games to help you out with the aiming and hit detection. |

Aiming is still not there where it could be and CCP nows this and is working on improvements. The reason so many believe aiming is ok is because they adapt to the broken mechanic. Meanwhile I do fine more less when it comes down to aiming but when going to a different shooter I notice the difference. And still aiming varies from game to game. |

If you can't see a problem.. is obviously not a problem for you. But it is a problem for people that like being in the front line with an AR, or a SCR rifle / pistol, SMG, or a Shotgun. The current aiming mechanics are design to irritate and frustrate people that actually LIKES to aim in a shooter game. |
