I recently played a alt. I never do this I only play my main. So I do the academy an I'm kinda fighting hard with crap gear an zero sp, an some of these noobs are smart enough to at least have good suits an geks, or the occasional core faylock.
So I earn about 200000 sp then boom I'm in with the big boys; lol damn! Gotta start over the same way I began in open beta by sniping to survive. I think this is a good way to learn this game by fighting from far away until your skills an battle sence allow you to earn your spot on the front lines.
But new guys don't want to do this so I say give em 5 million in the academy then cut em loose. Needless to say I haven't touched my alt since an I probably never woulda kept playing this game if I didn't look at it as a investment an bought boosters.
Not everyone has money to burn on a game that constantly changes, an young people that did put money into this game an sp would probably quit if they lost a cal logi to a change cuz they don't share the same patience as older vets of the game.
So I say boost the new guys egos a bit an leave em in the training grounds till they hit 5 milly. |

Then the day one guys in starter fits with 500k SP would be pitted against guys in well fitted ADV suits or possibly poorly fitted proto gear at 4-4.5 mill SP.
The answer is higher starting SP OR a mill or so SP awarded upon graduation from academy battles. |

And when you started the potential SP gap wasn't 20 million....
Also, I don't understand your response, it's not as though I completely disagreed with your statement, I just presented a different solution to the problem. |

5M SP would take quite a while for the less active players, they'd probably quit for lack of variety before quitting for getting Protostomped.
Not to mention 4M SP is more than enough to get some good fits going if you know how to spend it, which you can bet the vets in alts. there do, and in turn, will make the BA simply a less expensive hunting ground for them
So that'd just end up for boosting the alt users' egos more than that of the new players. |

If you've got a pair of ********* there is.
Sniping is boring, cowardly and rarely helps your team.
In real life sure, we use snipers to minimize risk, that makes sense. In this case it's a game, who gives a **** if you die? You'll be back in 10 seconds. How about getting in the thick of it and actually helping your team instead of padding your stats.

Lol, I had about 555k SP by the time I graduated from the academy with an alt, meaning, I only gained 55k or so SP.
As I stated in my thread, I only played 9 games before advancing. I said it before, but I'll say it again: the WP requirement of the academy should be raised to at least 50k.
Please, support my thread:

The academy period should be extended significantly.

5 million is too much. I'd say 3 million SP is enough to get your ADV suit and weapon so you can defend yourself against proto players. |

I think there are multiple ways Academy could be changed to ease graduation. First would be to increase WP graduation to at least 100,000. Right now you can have 6 or 7 good games and be out. Sure, players that do that are skilled, but in this game having skill points trumps gun skill most of the time. An average player with 10m SP will most likely beat a good player with 1 million SP.
Which brings me to my next suggestions. Have an SP multiplier in effect for Academy matches. Have a graduation SP reward. Something to increase SP gain speed and overall SP accrual in Academy.
Next, have a "medium" option for newly graduated Academy players up to 3 million SP. allow players to choose between Academy and regular matches. Most would stick with Academy, but having the option to jump in to bigger matches wouldn't hurt a thing.
Lastly, implement a challenge system with SP rewards. Things like "blow up 5 LAVs" or "earn 100 assists" or "hack 50 installations". This would teach players different things about the game instead of dropping new players into matches with no real goal in mind. |

I was referring to when you start the game that's pretty much the fastest way to get points till you understand the game. When I started I couldn't kill. $h!% So I ran scout sniper, I ran in with a smg dropped links hacked everything then sniped then repeated the process, finishing usually top three barely killing anyone unless I was smart about it. An when your new that's how it's done!
So can that padding your stats an helping out your team bs! |

You're going about it all wrong...
Academy is based on War Points.
Roll your alt, then let it sit for a month between battles.
1 month is =/= 1 million SP give or take.
1 Academy battle is between 0-1500 War Points.
If you leave a battle iirc you won't get War points.

I enjoy Sniping
It's a game, cowardly doesn't come into it.
Sometimes I'm useful sometimes I'm useless. Same as if I was on the ground.
Stats mean absolutely **** all, it's a game, If I'm having fun I'm having fun.

5 million SP? No buddy, that's not good. We can't baby these mercs. Though I agree the Academy should be just a lil longer, I feel the tough experience acts as a training tool as well.
When I enlisted, there were no such thing as Academy. I was thrown to the wolves. I'm not superbly good but I am force to be reckoned with due to that experience.
So we can't hand hold forever. 5 mil SP is far too long. |

Read the whole thread I already said 5,432, is better than 200000, an btw I started in open beta, I got rizaped in the beginning too, it's just these little 12 yr old buggers an putting points into nothing but mass drivers an faylocks, it's a bloody mess out there, an if you don't want that shyt nerfed, they need more time to spec into other stuff to compete!
If this doesn't get fixed, wait 5 months an theirs gonna be a army of 12 yr old explosive experts all on the same squad, giggling an being yelled at in the coms by their parents telling them it's bed time, lol beware the UPRISING! |
