My sources tell me that the Amarr research and development have improved upon their suit and they they can carry more weapons and gear. I guess they stole a shipment of CPUs from the Caldari because I have "over heard" some well connected people talking about Caldari manufactures not being able to produce suits to the same quality. I don't know what the actual details are and I will communicate them here. |

I have been told it is an overheating problem with the Caldari units and the Amarr switched to a nano-electrical co-processor 1 |

The overheating problem has also effected the shield generation of both medium frames. I don't have full details and my contact is getting nervous. Any new intel is welcome and I will report back if I hear more.

The news I'm receiving is indicating a total redesign of the Caldari medium frame shield system. It is vague but they seem to be having the problems with the supply chain of heat sinks for CPUs and in board power plants. The word in the trenches is mixed with the logistics class worried about combat effectiveness and the assault class telling them to shut up and fight.
The clone warriors have seen a high desertion rate and the influx of poorly trained mercs has put the biomass into overdrive. There have been calls for more training to make the newly cloned recruits combat ready. Research and development has not confirmed the rumors that this generation of implants are faulty with failure above 50%. I am in a tight spot right now and our location is a secret.
I will be back when I have a clear shot at the sky.

We are on some wasteland of a planet. Nothing but dry barren land with a few mountains in the distance. I am not allowed to give the location and to be honest I'm not really sure where we are. Took us 6 hours to hike here and I don't understand why we had to be dropped so far away.
One of my fellow mercs offers me his sniper rifle and tell me to look.
There is something here. It looks like a factory or some type of chemical plant, it is hard to tell what is going on because the plant if far off and the heat from the surface makes it almost disappear. The special operations officer we are escorting is looking at a map and pointing in the direction of the factory.

There was a default in the detonator used in current models of flux grenades. There have been several training deaths and the cause was traced back to the faulty detonator. Redesigned EMP detonators and firing assemblies will be available shortly and the deadly flux will dwindle as the supply of our current model is replaced with the new version. |

Upgraded sensor readouts are supposed to be in this cycle of suits. R&D is on fire and continually updating suits and improving tech. The new displays will help the wearer determine ranges and allows the suit to anticipate resource drain and adjust to compensate. The firmware has a side effect that is an added bonus, not only are target ranges more precise they take load off the weapon's ammunition chambering system and have rectified some of the reloading problems front line mercs have been having. The next generation of HUD firmware should be installed ASAP. The file will be available in all mercenary quarters soonGäóGǪ |

The new hardware for the pilots who are also mercenaries is finally out of development. The new device allow pilots to access the mercenary ground forces NEOCOM and make changes to suit fittings while the pilot is in station. The new tech will allow pilots to "Do more faster" even though the software developers haven't brought it online yet.
The device is functional and the firmware is solid. Boasting a impressive technical spec list the electronics serve little purpose as they are. Manufacturers say that this NEOCOM will seamlessly integrate battle information and communications so that the ground forces can use all available Intel to coordinate attacks.
Without software that communicates between systems the gadget is only used to watch holoreels and play games while mercs are sitting idle. Software for the new device has been in development for a while causing forces to ask questions about its release and overall suite of applications. The developers have spoken out in their own defense when mercenaries complained of the cost and lack of support.
"We don't want to ship any product that is going to cause casualties, if the software doesn't work perfectly every time then people die. I don't want that on my head." Remarked a lead software architect whom spoke on the conditions that I wouldn't release his name. I have been able to do some hands on testing and the device could be very usefulGǪif we can get some software. |

There has been many reports of equipment not deploying correctly. These problems have been traced back to an activation carrier signal. The deployed equipment uses a high frequency carrier wave to become active. The pulse width modulated signal is loaded into a suit's on board memory when equipment is being prepared for deployment and once the equipment is in this place the suit transmits the activation signal.
The carrier signal transmitter was improperly shielded and electronic noise was being induced into the carrier wave. This noise changes the pulse width and causes errors with the activation routine in the equipment. Transmitter manufacturing is a big business so the problem should be solved soon enough. A more robust electronic noise shielding systems has been designed and installed on all current transmitters with the hope of alleviating equipment malfunctioning due to garbled transmissions. |

The demand for Logistical Light Attack Vehicles is at an all time high and with road fatalities and pedestrian strikes mirroring the same trend LAV manufacturing has reached maximum output. Although the the LAV is a favorite among mercs the design will be changing in the coming months.
With high demand and low production capacity manufacturing has decided to use different materials and manufacturing techniques to increased production and lower costs. These changes come with drawbacks. Using lighter material and a smaller propulsion system the LAV will stay at its current speed but acceleration will suffer. Cutting down on accidents involving new recruits is a priority.
Less acceleration and overall power will mean that soldiers will not be able to escape hostile environments as quickly but it will reduce the number of deaths from collisions, pedestrian strikes and roll overs. Professional logistics drivers are not pleased with the changes and are requesting that manufacturing keep the vehicles the same.
Moving from hardened metal alloys to a small arms resistant polymers will lessen the impact damage to dropsuits by absorbing impacts instead of resisting them. With some soldiers using the LAV as a weapon in extreme conditions and others falling prey to them, there is bound to be some complaints and some compliments but the over all changes should keep clones out of the biomass. |

I decided to investigate rumors of suit failures in the field; I have been hearing reports of joint failure resulting in loss of mobility and ending with clone loss. Mercs are displeased with the performance of the joint servo motor and controllers. I went into the foxholes to try and get some first hand reports from front line mercs.
RINON114 wrote:It's been around a while. I was killed by a grenade the other day because I got stuck to a turret installation. I had plenty of time to get away, but then I got stuck...
Not only are clones being lost but ISK is burnt as well. I decided to follow the trail back to the manufacturing corporate headquarters. They were unwilling to let me quote them but it boils down to bad controllers and not to the servo motors. The problem was actually a product of a series of electromechanical malfunctions starting with an over voltage situation in the dropsuit power grid. This surge of power wrecked the npn transistors and caused the the motor to receive an injection of DC power instead of the called for AC.
Transistor are grown on silicon wafers that have been doped with impurities, these impurities determine the characteristics of the transistor. Servo controllers use the transistors to converted DC into AC causing a rotating magnetic field. When these transistors receive too much voltage they short and instead of turning on and off to simulate AC they provide Direct Current. The result is basically putting the brakes on. |

I have been talking to the troops again trying to find the problems to the high drop out rate of new recruits. Is it implant failure? Inability to be retrained in a different weapon? I have ran across a few different reasons and I wanted to get some first hand reports of problems our forces are having.
Boredom has set in and mercs are letting their training go to waste and neglecting the needed practice required to keep their combat effectiveness up to its former glory. Our fighters are looking to branch out in the cluster and discover whats out there. Limited numbers of clones and a low retention rate has seen mercs with multiple deploys to the same region. Elite mercenaries whom protect and defend planetary districts are suffering from routine fatigue and lack of R&R.
These mercs are always being deployed to the same districts for the same reasons and fatigue has set in. I reached out to the CPM and received this statement when I remarked that I had heard rumors of us pushing into drone territory to help alleviate boredom and help with recruitment and retention.
Nova Knife wrote: This is apparently not the case, much to our dismay upon hearing this.
Hopefully the restrictions on clone deployment will slack up and out troops can get some much needed R&R away from the front line fighting. Drones would be a nice change of pace and offer newer recruits a place to build their war chest and hone needed skills. Weapons manufacturers would also benefit from the much needed data that the squads would bring back about gear performance. |

I reported earlier on Heads Up Display (HUD) changes and updates to the TacNet battle systems. I sent out invitations to corporations for interviews regarding these changes and received some good feedback in what to expect from our next batch of firmware updates and Clone Machine Interface (CMI) upgrades. These changes are still in the Alpha stages but are said to be moving a along nicely and should be ready for release soonGäó. Few members of the R&D teams were willing to let me quote them for fear of IP rights and patent laws but I did manage to get a quote from a well know developer.
The new system used will provide better feedback to the CMI by reducing HUD clutter and provide improved information about troops in the operators line of sight. Squad member icons will be displayed all the time while team members will only have icons while in sight. Using an active scanner can be a big advantage to squads and now the information relayed to TacNet via the Active Scanner will have a scheme of icons that lets mercs know what has been scanned. The scanner now highlights the targets differently than the current version giving front liners a better chance to engage the target. The new icons bring attention to targets and indicate that they will only be on screen for a finite amount of time.
All of my allowed quotes are in general statements and could be applied to most subjects because I have to hide the identity our my sources. I asked my source how well testing was going and if he liked the changes.
CCP Wolfman wrote:Pretty well, quite happy with it so far.
He said with a smile on his face. The relaxed tone of his voice and his eagerness to give some details about the interface leads me to believed that these changes will be happening in short order. We continued to discuss changes and resources needed to run the improved applications, to my surprise, no additional hardware or resources will be needed. It is purely a code change and all the requirements are there in the suit.
I asked why these changes were needed because I have heard few complaints about the current HUD.
CCP Wolfman wrote:We want to clean it up. You often didnGÇÖt really know why you see some things and not others.
What brought about the changes? Were there complaints about what we have now or was it a corporate decision? I am glad to see development of applications that improve the flow of information. Information on the battlefield is literally a life or death situation where a bottleneck of information can cost you your profit.
CCP Wolfman wrote:We are unhappy with how much noise there is on the HUD. It often gets in the way rather than helping you understand what is going on. We want to clean it up
I like the sound of the upcoming changes even though I haven't had much problems with the system. I am sure some mercs won't like it but that is life and we're immortal so get used to it. Say tuned for my next segment, as always reporters are needed for breaking news reports.

I have finally escaped! I didn't think I would ever leave that hell hole at the edge of the galaxy. The system changed hands and I escaped in the confusion. Don't **** off the Galente. I was at a research facility that was developing the next wave of terrestrial combat weapons. More advanced alloys and technology is being pumped into the war machine from all directions and military arms developers are out pacing a vehicle's ability to take damage and keep moving. I don't have specifics on the weapons but I did see and hear some testing. From what I seen tested I think that some type of short to medium range weapon should be hitting the front lines in short order.
Complaints from pilots about vehicle survivability and verity have forced developers to re-engineer their war machines and develop new ones. Although I haven't confirmed this with any sources I trust, I do believe some of the stories I have been told on my little hiatus. The Galente my be the champions of freedom but they don't take kindly to people asking too many questions. Oddly enough the Goonswarm Federation facilitated my escape. I hope my fellow cellmates were as lucky as I was.
Now that I am safely back in high security space I can breath a little easier and hopefully get back into the know. I should have a few new articals up here soon because my inbox is full and only a few will be death threats. Any news or info is always appreciated and as always no one will know your name. My encryption methods are the best money can buy and have been tested by my enemies and governments alike with no cracks found.

I reported earlier on TACNET HUD interface updates and why they were needed, I wanted to follow up on that article with some grunt feedback. Most of the comments have had the same theme. Most of the complaints with the new system have been with over all feel of the the GUI and with what information is displayed.

I wonder why the manufacturers put Prototype Stabilizers in our Dropsuits, they seem quite Unpolished, however, hopefully the next batch will be a bit more refined.
Mercenaries have had problems, especially logistical medium frames and heavy frames. Oddly enough the two sizes have the same complaint. Logistic personal equipped armor repair tools are having a difficult time identify mercs that need their special kind of love. Heavies are on the same coin but on the opposite side. Our heavy suits are not getting the support they need to hold objectives.

Hutra Gnoj wrote:New mercenary training has been the major hot topic lately so I decided to go with it. I mainly hear two types of thinking on the subject and decided to put them out here and see what the trenches think. The process of becoming immortal seems easy enough but the average merc doesn't think about things like dropsuit fittings and joining corporations. All we are thinking when we sign on the line is that we want to fight. Ideals and purpose are mashed together with necessity or orders and we have to make choices that will change us on the battlefield. How does a merc know what to do and where to go to get the things we need to be useful while fighting? What skills are needed to use what module? These are difficult answers to find for a new clone and with the assortment of items we currently have on the market they can have a profound affect on where a new recruit goes and how long they are active. Some think that mercs should just be tossed into the mix and they either sink or swim. Conspiracy theories think that the major corporations like it this was so they can easily maintain control. That's a different story. Up until the recent political and social shift in attitudes towards battle clones no one cared how they were "programed". Mercenary retention has been difficult and some believe that it is because of poor initial training. Older mercs who learned the hard way say harden up and live with it because that is the way we did it. The second type thinks that training should fall into the hands of large corporations and small groups that have better budgets and training regiments. Individual mercs have also taken to putting out bulletins and notices for new mercenaries that try to aid in training. The next question that is always asked is if the recruit knows where to find the information and if they even know that they need to. Corporations have special places for new mercenaries and many think that they are responsible for combat and social training. Turns out they were both correct. New training software has been okay-ed and is scheduled for release in the near future. These new subroutines confirm that recruits are learning as they move onto the battlefield and into the sociopolitical sphere that all mercenaries face during the first days of immortality. Corporations have tight-knit leaderships and even tighter wallets, finding a corporation that pays well or believes the way you do can be daunting. The new Graphical User Interface (GUI) gives the recruit small rewards for progressing through training that ends in newly trained mercenary. Will it work? Will we see new recruits make better choices? Stay longer? Only time will tell us how it will work out and with some corporations stepping up to aid in training we may see an uptick in well trained new blood. Let us not forget that only the individual can choose what skill they want or what weapon they like or are good at. Our fellow mercs need guidance after they are activated and we should all be involved. Now that we have a new GUI and recruits have a defined path corporations can focus more on tactics and what roles are needed not basic training.

A hacked market upgrade set to be released in the coming months has some interesting new placeholders for weapons and modules. Of course all data pulled from the compromised terminal shouldn't be trusted and should only be treated as speculation and innuendo or even deception. The source of the data has not been confirmed.
With the rise of battle clones and the spread of their influence starting to be noticed all over the cluster many of New Edens top weapons manufacturing corporations have invested huge sums of ISK into R&D. With many battles fought at a frantic pace the pace of development has been surprising slow. These fights are fought at distances from 100m all the way down to hand to hand and fire fights can be long and drawn out due to dropsuit defensive systems and logistical mercenaries acting as triage medics.
The new market items are merely placeholders reserved by manufactures to ensure speedy market deployment with little digital bottlenecks. However, I have heard rumors of new weapons being developed and tested. Old technologies used in spacecraft is being reinvented for infantry combat on miniature scale when compared to its big brother. Mercenaries have not been pleased with the development, reliability or deployment of new weapons and it seems that we are about to see a new wave of weapons hit the battlefields of New Eden.
Each race in New Eden has it own culture, government, ship designs and of course weapons system. The war zones have been dominated by a hand full of weapons since we were activated and with luck and training that may soon come to an end. I will leave you with the message I received and you can come to your own conclusions on what to do and when to do it.

In a letter to members Mitauchi confirms his resignation as the "active leader" of RofL and the division of pilots and ground forces. This may seem troubling to some as Rise of Legion is a major player in Molden Heath and the districts therein but Mitauchi stats that corporate infantry will concentrate on district level conflicts and pilots will handle celestial matters. Mitauchi leaves with nothing but praise for the separating corporations stating.
"[T]he alliance flourished and with the support of our fleets dominated skies above the planets while our forces fought hard on the ground."
The split of the corporation is just another example in the long list of complications that accompany the difficult task of combining troops on the ground and in the sky. Mitauchi goes on to say.
" Few alliances made any attempt to bring their pilots in for support or anchor a space structure because they knew we would promptly come in and destroy it. Our brotherhood, our multifaceted alliance was never stronger, and for a long time ROFLGÇÖs vision of the future was solid."
The letter is reassures the members that both pilot and infantry sides of the corporation will continue to strive but will do so in different directions. What does the future hold for RofL? Will the split change the infantries abilities to hold districts? Only time will answer these questions and show the grit of their members.

In the next few hours the next generation of suit frames will be hitting the battlefields. Research and development centers through out New Eden are in an arms race to try to counteract the rumored infantry rifles that are about to be unleashed. A few months ago I told you about my stay with the Gallente in their research facility and about the weapons I cold hear being tested. I cannot confirm anything because all the people whom I trust aren't talking. This may seem like a bad thing but sometimes silence tells more than words do.
These rumors about new weapons have been flying around for months but no one is willing to confirm or deny anything about them. Now we are seeing the changes to combat suits that could helps us predict what kind of new toys the boys in the lab have coming. This is all speculation so make your own decisions and do your own research. The first thing that catches my eye is the new gyroscopic stabilizer being used on entry level Dropships. Although not a big deal in itself it leads me to think some type of change is being implemented in training or anti-aircraft weapons.
Moving on we come to infantry upgrades. As we all know the light frames have their issues. When compared to medium weight frames they just don't stand a chance. Less everything means that the light frame is difficult to use and even harder to master. While filling small niche roles here and there they still remain lackluster and underwhelming. Light frames have few positives at the moment but one more can now be added. In a bid to reinvigorate the mercenaries whom use this suit, development has added six meters of scan radius. This little extra may not seem like much but with the suits limited repertoire any plus is a big improvement.
Next we arrive at the opposite end of the scale and look at the heavy class of suits. Manufacturers must have good information about up coming weapons and their abilities because they loaded the suits down with new composite armor that adds more protection to the mercenaries that love the suit. The suits will now come with an improved ability to withstand incoming damages. The increase of base armor does not seem to come with any reduction of mobility.
Finally we have an equipment upgrade that compliments the uptick in armor amounts. The logistics repair tool has been improved upon and now has better repair capabilities. The nanite stream has been focused and the next generation of nanites work faster to provide more armor in damaged areas. The added repair rate will be welcomed by logistic frames and heavy frames alike.
All of these changes coming tell me that an influx of new weapons is sure to hit soon. The only good reason to change the scan radii of light frames is to add a small amount of protection to a frame with limited defenses. Adding more armor to heavy frames only can mean one thing to me. Developers know that the additional weapons will make it even harder to use such a slow moving frame and padding them with more defensive capabilities will increase their combat effectiveness.
Good luck with all the new improvements and I hope that they will have a perceivable affect on the battlefield and give some sorely needed survivability to our troops.] |

The Black Eagles are providing every mercenary with multiple copies of their Scout G/1-Series dropsuits for trails and general use. To the average infantry grunt this may seem like a windfall but to many of the higher ups this is very disturbing. The Black Eagles are known for their ruthlessness and secretive nature. The Black Eagles (BE) are an intelligence agency ran by the Gallente Federation and more importantly by Mentas Blaque. Blaque is a hardliner that believes that the Federation has to project power and stability at all costs.
BE are feared and reviled by many in New Eden and considered to be the tip of the spear in Federation Covert Operations. Blaque and BE are thought to be instrumental in the downfall of Tibus Heth and the debacle on Caldari Prime. I cannot guarantee that Blaque is guilty of all the cruelties that citizens of New Eden have laid upon him but he does have a history of being an outspoken critic of anything that he considers to be against the Federation and its ideology.
This is a message to all who wear BE suits. Be careful of anything free and easy. All things have cost and a dropsuit is no different. The BE suit comes with one other "perk", for every 5 kills made another suit will be "rewarded", seems to be an odd reward system for a group that works for the champions of freedom know as the Gallente. Black Eagles are spies and use espionage and extreme tactics to achieve their goals. I leave you with a quote from a transcript taken from an alleged BE defector, take what you will from this report but keep in mind the past of BE and Blaque.
"They make you watch it all, man. They make you watch through the eyes of the person you killed. It's all for show, really, but they do it so well. I saw the guy come in, brush his teeth, kiss his son good night... then I felt my bullet go into his skull just seconds after it shattered the window. Back when I'd shot him, you know, I didn't know anything... all I saw was a man leaning down in the spot where I'd been told he would be, then I squeezed the trigger, twice to make sure, and got the hell out of there. But they had to make me relive it all through this bullshit virtual scenario. They want you to know that you're gonna be called upon to kill innocent people, good people, Federation people, and that you have to be comfortable with doing it because it serves the greater good. Whatever the **** that's even supposed to mean." |
