Even though many people could use them, I really hope CCP doesn't give them out for one reason.
Once the core flaylock and the LLAV are nerfed, the users won't be able to get that SP they sank into overpowered crap. I will laugh when it actually takes skill with the core flaylock due to a massive nerf, and the LLAV can be destroyed easier than a tank.
Those who use the cheap crap must deal with the consequences when it's nerfed. Plain and simple. |

Kain Spero wrote:Until a real baseline of balance is established and the game's content is filled out I really think that respects should be allowed with each patch or at least a refund of the skills that a directly impacted by a balance change until we reach that baseline. I believe this would allow CCP to actually have more freedom to perform balance adjustments in a meaningful way.
The only issue is that the respect system really has to be automated (and that would mean coding), so that it doesn't eat up a HUGE chunk of resources in dealing with the respects by hand.
I know a lot of people want to point their fingers at Cal Logis and go "HA HA", but quite frankly there is no reason to punish players for using the resources given to them to the best of their ability. It's so important that we move forward together as a community to improve this game.
For me that means Devs communicating to the community changes that they plan BEFORE they are locked in and giving those optional respecs (character or skill specific) to allow both the developers and the community the freedom to test and find the game balance that we are all looking for.

But what happens when CCP randomly decides to nerf your playstyle, that you picked not because it was "OP" but simply because it was the only way you have fun. Suddenly your role is useless and you get to enjoy the pain that brings. If you idly stand by as others are removed, no one will be left to care when they come for you. |

I have to agree, My HMG still only tickles at the distance an AR uses, and up close I can't even turn around fast enough to keep my aim on these bunny hopping Flaylock running proto punks. No more respec.
I have to deal with my weapon shooting marshmallows, well so do they.

Taking a step back and looking at this, this isn't the same situation as them rebalancing ships in EVE, because the core mechanics in EVE have been full assembled for years, whereas we're still in the early stages of working out the most fundamental aspects of this game.
I know it feels good to **** on people who flock to FOTM assets, but there isn't really much to work with right now anyway.
To clarify, I continue to oppose any paid respec system, for ISK or AURUM. However, making sure we don't handicap people for playing the game right now while balance is so fluid is also a valid consideration, and I agree with Spero that optional, limited respecs should be offered in the case of major changes and content updates until we have a full set of assets across each race.
At that point, lock it up. |
