I find it very weird that when I take a well placed headshot (with the one shot headshot sound and all), I see a medic quickly run up to them and revive them. I may be wrong but I thought it was a feature to reward skillful aiming that headshot death = guaranteed death, but people have been picked up no matter how many headshots I make.
I vaguely remembered that prior patches, if you died from a headshot you werent revivable and there is no revive counter. Your body also immediately dissapears as per the rule of confirmed dead players. If this feature was removed, I suggest it be reimplemented. i find it discouraging for snipers if a well placed headshot can be revived and the only way to guarantee the target stays down is to spam 6m explosives.
If death by grenade is instant death, I dont see why a well placed headshot death should be any different. |

Probably because there was no medic around
Then again people do like to bleed out before a medic revives them, or else they'll be in a sniper's scope again.
If the body doesnt dissapear, it can be revived. |

Pissed? No, just makes no sense to not reward going for head with complete death. This concept is the same with pretty much every other shooter I played that has a revive mechanic. Bullet to brain = death.
Not spending AUR on a broken weapon. I enjoy the satisfaction of not going the FOTM route and still come out on top from just skill. |

Thats what I thought at first, but it happened consistently and not "rarely" so the idea that client sided headshot not matching server side wasnt an issue and that it was "working as intended".
Also holy thread bump batman! |

But there is a BUT: Snipers will not be able to apply the medic bait technique. Which is a must tactic for snipers, so no, wouldnt fly.
They can still bait if they avoid headshots, a headshot will be instant death, no revive possible, a body shot is bait material. |

I already said you can, I'm an off-sniper which means I snipe when I'm bored. Aiming for the head is basically what I do best and unless the body disappears on shot, it doesnt matter if theres a DONG or not, a medic can still revive.
I've had situations where I see several people clumped together, shot one guy with a headshot and went for the next guy, shot the second guy in the head and watched a medic pick both of them up. From my memory, originally the body simply vanished if you shot them in the head with a sniper rifle, but now the body stays there unless you a)kill with it explosives or b) shoot the dead body after the headshot. My guess is they removed the on-death headshot because it was a little silly to have the body simply vanish after a headshot.
I'm asking them to bring it back and change how bodies vanish by simply removing the revive marker on team HUD so they know you're dead. The body can shortly disintergrate after instead of vanishing. |

If you're talking about lore wise, any trauma to the brain can cause problems on the next clone body if you dont swap immediately. Imagine you lost half your brain when you transfer, you'll be derpy as a mother ******, hence why the brain implant transfers you at the moment of death. The likeliness of survivng a bullet to the head isnt that great especially when we're talking about plasma weapons that will burn a hole straight through or a railgun that would normally penetrate a thick plate of steel and keep going. |

Thurak1 wrote:Pretty sure headshots = total death. Perhaps the system thought you hit them in the chest. Very possible given how lousy hit detection is in the game. Also its not just headshots that = total death basically any great overage of damage. Normally being run over or a direct hit from a forge gun also = total death.
Not really, most weapons have a dead or alive mechanic. Most explosive weapons have a dead mechanic if you get killed by them like MD, Flaylock, REs, and grenades. Some other weapons also have a dead mechanic like heavy rail types like the forge gun or the large rail turret (both on HAV and on stationary) and the plasma cannon. None of them have anything to do with "doing too much damage" as the damage varies greatly among the dead on death weapons.
Light weapons in general have an alive mechanic that when killed by them, you can be revived. Sniper rifle and assault/laser based weapons can be revived. Also getting run over by an LAV is revivable.
As I said earlier, I have reasonable doubts that its a client-server desync as it happens way too often where I see a medic revive a headshot kill even in matches where it feels fluid and not laggy at all. |

I use a standard Sniper rifle with a complex damage mod. Pretty sure I dont do much overkill damage seeing as I can one shot most low level fits with a single shot to the head while those with slightly more armor/shields can survive.
Overkill or not, a single well placed headshot whether it be a sniper rifle or an AR, should completely kill a person and not simply incapacitate him. Telling me that I need a high amount of damage to kill a guy with a headshot is no different than telling me to shoot his corpse which is not the topic this thread.
I dont care for revive baiting seeing as thats not the point of this thread and extremely risky when dealing with a medic that knows what he's doing (proto nanite injector and repair tool on an armor tanked heavy for example) and its not exactly easy to revive bait when dealing with multiple protos in CQC who arent brain dead to revive their teamates into open fire. |
