Well ok there is, but asking CCP to nerf the current most powerful items in game just leads to another nerf of the next most powerful item in game somewhere down the line.
In my mind (and admittedly it is mostly full of rusty cogs and cobwebs) the only balance is player driven economy. Take for example (small amount of EVE knowledge needed) the Pithi b-type small shield booster in EVE. It sells for somewhere around 400 million (if my information is accurate) and the a-type is a hell of a lot more than the b-type. They are extremely powerful mods when used properly and if the price was set as they are in dust right now people would have been QQing and demanding a nerf but the balance has been found via pricing. People want the most powerful OP items but they have to pay out the a*s for them.
Until the markets are player driven as they are in EVE, people will carry on crying for the nerf bat to hit the next OP item.
That's how I see it anyway. |

That's just it, there shouldn't be a most powerful weapon. Each weapon should be powerful and unique in it's own way. Balance. |

The cost restrictions may work in EVE, but this is a shooter with instant battle, and having imbalance in a shooter doesn't really work.
In EVE you don't necessarily have to fight other players. While you might do that from time to time, you can mine, or do PvE, or mine. But until we can do those things in DUST, rough balance is needed. |

I see where you're coming from but Dust was never meant to be a cookie cutter FPS. It was meant to be deeper than just jump online and kill ****. there is supposed to be an aspect of thought and different levels of ability/usefulness.
Trying to balance the different weapons, suits, mods, equipment...blah blah is never going to work since one class of weapon or suit will always be more powerful than the rest. its a case of cost vs supply. If lots of people want a particular weapon (lets just pick the duvolle AR for arguments sake) then demand soars, supply drops and price increases. this means only the richer peeps can afford to use it and decreases the likelyhood of seeing it on the field. The more richer peeps spend on their OP eqiupment the less they have to spend and thus balance is harmoniously returned to the game.
No it's not EVE but it's not your regular FPS either.
I'd love to see different aspects to this game such as industry and mission running. I had one PVP pilot and 7 Indy Characters in EVE and I know how different aspects can open a game up to keep it feeling new. I think dust needs more aspects and the player driven market is an important one.
Thanks for your feedback on this. |
