Recently I have been looking at skilling into vehicles. Whilst looking into it I found out how ridiculously expensive the skillbooks are. And it's putting me off skilling into them. Personally, I feel they should be made cheaper.
The skillbooks for basic Dropships and Tanks costs 957,000 ISK each. No other 4x skill has such a huge price. I understand 'rarer' skillbooks are supposed to be more expensive, but I think a price of 500,000 ISK is a bit more reasonable.
The skillbooks for Assault and Logi Dropships are 1,772,000 ISK each. That's way too expensive for a skillbook. Maybe reduce it to around 850,000 ISK.
Lastly, the skillbooks for Enforcer HAVs are 3,279,000 ISK! The first time I saw that price it blew my mind. Seriously, that is WAY too expensive for any skillbook. A price of 1,200,000 ISK feels a lot more reasonable.
I hope I don't come across as whingy, but seeing these prices made me defecate bricks... |

Presumably, the reason vehicle skill books are so ridiculously expensive are to discourage you from going into them before you've got a decent infantry suit under your belt. It makes even more sense when you consider that to effectively use vehicles, you need either way more money or luck than someone who plays infantry. It's unlikely someone will lose a million ISK in a single match playing Infantry, but if the forums are any indication, vehicle users call that "Tuesday." The skill books being expensive, then, are to prevent people who don't have the money to use vehicles from blowing their SP skilling into it. |

you only need to buy it once so what are you complaining about, should be complaining how pricey it is to a pilot of any vehicle(beside LLAVs those things make money) |

I can see what you mean. However, taking that into account, they still feel far too expensive. |

They are higher because they are strong. Infantry can be taken down easy by a good tanker or dropship pilot. It's like for example in EVE, the higher tier the ship is, the more expensive stuff is. You could train for a T1 ship and pay let's say 500,000ISK (not accurate just a random number), then train for a T2 ship and then pay like 2,000,000 (again, not accurate). Because they're stronger, better. Like when you train for the Enforcer, think of it as a T2 tank. it's going to be more expensive because it's supposed to be better. It's pretty reasonable if you think about it. It just kinda sucks because we don't have a lot of options to make ISK. YET! |

Skillbooks are just books. Realistically, they shouldn't cost millions. Vehicles, however, are somewhat more complicated than books. 1 million ISK on a high tier tank is reasonable in my eyes. |

I understand that they're more expensive because of a greater reward from investing in it. However, they feel too expensive for the return you're getting. But that's just my opinion. |

Well, they're called skillbooks, but if they work by the same process as in EVE, you inject them directly into your brain somehow. Bit more complicated than dead trees. |

Tanking isn't that expensive. With 100m ISK in your wallet and 2m SP you should be able to do the training to be efficient as tanker. |
