Hi CCP i was wondering if you guys have any plans for the new players involved in Dust514. My experience so far as a new player is to be honest a rough experience. From what i have seen so far, its clear to me that equipment gained by the skill points from combat or passive are the sweet and bitter part of this game. I love grinding in this game which is a first for me in a FPS but at the same time its a complete headache. People who have been playing since the open beta have gained strong equipment and run me down within moments of combat but while i empty my clip into the enemy he seems to laugh at me inferior equipment. I really like this whole customize fitting stuff because strangely enough i come back just to mess around with my fitting and test it out in battle. I am curious though, will there be anything we can look to the future as new players or are the players with better equipment always gonna stomp the skillful player? I would like to see a more balance between customization and combat skill for each player. I am aware though that this task is a very difficult one but its something that makes me wonder if Dust will become the kind of FPS i always wanted to play. THE MMO shooter which skillful players will rule but the equipment and customization adds depth and variety to the game. Skilled players meaning players who can not be outgunned just because one weapon level is higher than anothers. I still like this idea but as a FPS player it's also a turn off. Its a total Love Hate thing. |

CCP plans on adding PVE sometime in the future, don't know when but it will. This will allow players to take on NPC contracts to gain ISK and SP. And I have been playing this since the beta and I will tell you what I tell everyone. Don't give up. Because I did at one point and then came back. If I didn't leave I would probably be so much better. It takes time to get used to but you'll get the hang of it. It's a good game and it will continue to change and change. Try squading up with players or join a corp. It's a lot better if a team if more coordinated. Plus, your corp buddies can help you on what to do if you still aren't sure on what you're doing. |

I hear you, At this point i feel that my really only problem is just the who aiming system feels very jittery or Natural uncomfortable compared to most shooters like Halo or Battlefield 3. Most of the aiming seems to work well in middle range combat but close quarters seems to be such a mess with hip fire and skilled shoots of control is very hard to do with an enemy strafing left and right since the iron sights are so slow and unresponsive. And of course the whole Tier level weapons, just got my level 3 gek and finally starting to hold my own ground but once a Tier 5 guys start running in they crush me in two seconds. Struggling but i hoping this game will grow. I hear alot of crazy things and i would support them by buying these packs to help hasten their production of the game but i want to know my investment in their game will actually mean something, not find out a year after the PS4 they crash and die. I hope the game lives up to the hype. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to beat Tier 5 players when your new? |

If they are shield tanking (Most likely the Caldari or Minmitar) I recommend you train for Flux Grenades. It wipes out their shield and that leaves their armor, which is very low. If you're having trouble with armor tankers (Gallente or Armarr) then I'd carry Locus grenades. Also, play smart, don't just run head on all the time. Because if you fight these pro guys they will definitely mess you up. Even if you have the right gear. Try flanking them sometimes. As for the aiming, you will get used to it man. I'm not really good at being an instructor I don't think lol. But if you wanna squad up sometime maybe I can help you out some. |

We've all been in your shoes, OP; getting overrun is part of the learning process. CCP's discussed matchmaking being tied to level/equipment/etc; once implemented, this will be great for our newcomers. Dust is faced, however, with a relatively small playerbase, so there's no telling if or when this will be implemented. In the mean time, the best advice I can give you is to squad up with pals and play as a unit. The biggest proto bear in the game can't tank focused fire. Give the game a couple months before giving up. It doesn't take long at all to level up your gear. |

Hello,
The main weapon you, as a newbie of sorts, has against these prototype wielding foes is strategy. They are all usually confident because they are using the best gear shamelessly in a public match (proto stomping) but there is the element of surprise. I started playing in chromosome. When I was a new player I would usually stalk one of my teammates and when he was engaged in battle I would take the enemy by the side or back and they would notice very little because their attention is else where. A strategy I still use when I am using my alt testing out new weapons, since my alt was made two weeks ago. So I can tell you it's a dirty trick but very satisfying to know that you killed or helped kill a proto with a militia or basic item.
The second piece of advice I can give you is specialize on weaponry first. After you get some points into specialization of a after the first two or three weeks of gaming, the damage output of even they the cheapest weapons increases. A good example is the assault rifle an sub machine gun. These weapons, even at militia level, are deadly in a specialized character.
Remote explosives: Been having fun with these little buggers. Kills anything and are well placed in corners. Put one in a corner; run away and when proto stomp guy comes around... Blow him up.
As for other thing, b patient. Match making is on its way. Soon we might not have to worry about proto stompers because they will be harassing each other
Skill comes in more when you are a newbie than not. These are the trials by fire. This is where you leave your mark, it gets easier from here, so buckle up and enjoy the ride, there will come a time in a few months where you will be the hated one. |

CCP is dedicating a good portion of their resources to improving New Player Experience from a better tutorial to meaningful and intuitive UI. |

How about Matchmaking? seems pretty clear to me when someone has better equipment than another the match is already lopsided but will we see in the near future some changes to matchmaking |

This is where you leave your mark, it gets easier from here, so buckle up and enjoy the ride, there will come a time in a few months where you will be the hated one. The Thing is some tactics work well such as the remote explosives but playing passive is pointless in skirmish matches. in the end all you do is let the enemy take all the objectives so you can stay alive. I just got done with one of my matches where the whole team ran Tier 5 equipment. it was so one sided it was unbelievable. I even successfully flank on of my enemies and 5 shot him in the head with the scrambler pistol and he was near dead but then he threw a contact grenade and boom I died.
There was even a time where me and a Friend team up on him and he was taking mass driver hits but he still takes us both out with this explosive pistol. I just don't see how new players should be thrown into these kinds of matches and expect us not to feel cheated out of a match just because i don't have the grind that he did to the extent where even when i get the drop on him and deserve the kill he just takes it like a champ and turns on me with a explosive pistol and game over. I'm sorry but 9 times out of 10 you will die even if you successfully flank these guys. If its a 4 on 1 or that Remote Explosives tactic the only one that works then how am i suppose to hope for a match where i can actually win. Surprisingly my k/d is still positive because i am good at shooters but i should be winning more matches with these tactics not losing.
I'm sorry but someone is going to have to post a video of actually taking down tier 5 equipment with tier 1 stuff to show me its actually possible to win a match. If the matchup is tier 5 equipped team vs tier 1 equipped team.... The Tier 5 guys will always win the game. And i wouldn't have a problem with it if i didn't see this kind of stuff happen so damn much. |
