There will be games to play on the new consoles, but not nearly as many as on the PS3 and 360. Give it another year post-PS4 launch before stuff like this becomes a serious concern.

Seymor Krelborn DUST University Ivy League 332	Posted - 2013.07.20 18:29:00 - [4] - Quote since I already own a PS3 I don't see any reason why I wont still play..... but of course im gonna be playing PS4 as well I can see people who are on a tight budget may be trading in their PS3 to get a PS4 and that may knock down the pop a bit but on the other hand there are a ton of people who simply wont be able to afford it and dust is free... so there will always be an influx of new mercs and a steady amount of old mercs who will stay or revisit from time to time to see where the game is at. personally ill be around steady for the next 18 months I think... after that, if they haven't delivered some form of what we were promised ill probably move on... but ill come back at some point down the line if through reviews and other media/friends I hear that dust is finally something to see... I bet most of all the angry/bored people who have already quit will come back at that point too....

As far as CCP is concerned they are pretty much gone. Yeah once these new games are out, I might pop in to dust here and there for a match.. but buying boosters/aurum? Not for a game i'll play once or twice a month.

Well there are PS3 emulators for the PC although you gotta have a damn good PC. So yes I most likely will trade in my ps3 and most of my ps3 games for the ps4

The Last of us took people away from Dust 514 temporarily, and people have already come back from that game.

Here is the real question though... are those 2000 loyal fans purchasing enough aurum to keep the game on life support? and how long with CCP continue to fund dust if its not making any money?

Perhaps this isn't a popular position, but I think getting a console on its release is a terrible idea, and that even the most dedicated PS fans will still be playing PS3 for a long while after 4's arrival. That said, I think if Dust has any future, it is inevitably going to have to make the move to PS4 eventually. I'd be comfortable seeing it happen 12-18months into the PS4's lifespan. Right now Dust is still in beta. CCP took on more than they can handle, and though they might not be polishing a turd, there's an awful lot of sh*t they need to clean up before they have the right to make a promotional push to the larger gaming community.
