Just discuss about this: do you think that going back to beta phase would help this game?

The "beta phase" never left, so there's nothing to go back to.

Sure, the game is "commercially released," but everything about it still screams beta.

That's right! what i meant is: going back to official closed beta. My point is that if we go back to a beta phase, then the game has a new opportunity! it could be a rebirth. Up to now, players tried Dust at official release, didn't like it and moved on... but if they close this game, adjust almost everything with vets help and relaunch it, they could make people give this game a "second chance"

With the idea of "Beta" means

"Works buuut..... some stuffs still broken."

The average gaming community would understand. The "try hards" would venture off to their little land of casual and be fine.

I honestly, and always, my opinion, not yours.

 Alpha is generating core mechanics
Closed Beta is testing release content
Open beta is debugging and stress testing.

If you ask me... Feels like aplha.

Well, yes, you're right. Back to alpha then. Roughly 5k players per day would be a total of 15k unique connections. Let's just make those 15k active players alpha testers and rebuild the game...

Wow...We all know a lot of the main mechanics that this game operates around aren't even implemented yet
and as much as I love this game we have to admit that a lot of the basic things are bugged and subject to
 change for balance issues.
A move back to Beta isn't a bad idea at all...means maybe CCP would finally start listening to us proper...
May next year is 5/14 again..
Would give them a reasonable date for getting a proper version of this out....

"Beta" is just a label but still it was stupid of CCP to get rid of the Beta label, this game is far (years) away from being ready for official release

FFXIV did not go back into beta. They shut down FF14 threw away the whole thing and started over......that game was basicly unplayable. Everyone that bought it gets a free copy of FF14 A relam reborn. Not the same game. It is a brand new game which takes place after the events of FF14. SQUARE knew the game was garbage and is saving face. Different situation FF14 is subscription based not F2P. Can't really compare the two.

Everyone that bought FF14 didn't get the FF14: ARR for free. They get a discount and get to keep their character from the first one. As for Dust, better go back to beta or redo the whole game together, instead of taking chances of what works and what doesn't. Some people can wait more than a few month on Dust, if CCP actually improves the game than rather do trial and error for every stuff that comes out for this game. As for the F2P and P2P, it doesn't really matter. CCP had the chance to make Dust an amazing game but after the Uprising patch, it started to go downhill and there was a few good thing but CCP should be more open on what they are planning for the game than staying quiet and hoping that whatever they do, it will work out for everyone. The devs should share their ideas on the forums and hear what the playerbase has to say about it. Afterall the players play the game more than the Devs.

Why not exactly? Why doesn't ccp decide to go back to the drawing board? Why would that be bad? Ffxiv is a huge hit now, making a serious comeback. Would be nice if DUST recieved the same revival. No?

F2P or not, CCP need to go back to the drawing board and rethink about Dust. They are already losing money (I am sure that they) might as will lose money and redo the game again and have a chance to get more players into Dust than just guessing on what works and what doesnt.

Iron Wolf Saber wrote:Can't at this stage. That would require a few lawsuits back and forth. Thank you for your answer iron wolf but...let me ask you something:
would you rather play this game and seeing it grow slowly (really slowly), making people sad and angry about eventual nerfs/buffs, making people leave because of bad mechanics etc, or would you just wipe almost everything, using the good ideas and scratching the bad ones? I've seen uprising 1.0 as a really bad thing for many reasons, then they made some adjustment here and there, and honestly it is better. But it's not the FPS it is supposed to be, and I'm pretty sure ccp devs knows it.
Another thing: why don't we make a poll? I'm pretty sure that the absolute majority of players will go back to an early beta / alpha phase if they have their arum refunded! It is even convenient to ccp itself in the long run: they're "losing" money (aurums) with this refund, but they'll gain 4-5 times what they earned if the player base grow (and this is only going to happen if the game launch next year, or in 2, 3, 4 years time).
One thing I learned from MMOs is that people want to play a great game at launch because they want to be competitive, if player base after just two month is sinking, there must be something really wrong. Imo this would be the best choice. Disclose to world a new, wonderful Dust 514. We're with you ccp.

"Release" means nothing. The game is still in beta, and will be for its entire lifetime. If you ask me, it was idiotic of CCP to "release" the game, because it caused the bitching to intensify from players who thought that this would mean anything.
