Now that the racial bonuses are getting attention, it is time to give racial bonuses to dropsuits in accordance to their role characteristics
Gallente Assault: 2% armor extender efficiency OR 5% movement penalty reduction of armor plates (but only AFTER new guns have been introduced) Gallente Logistics: 2-5% armor repair efficiency per level (but only AFTER the new guns have been introduced)
note: change amarr logistics from 120/180 shields/armor to 150/150 Amarr Assault: 2-5% cpu/pg efficiency per level Amarr Logistics: 2-5% cpu/pg efficiency per level
I apologize for min users. i cannot think of any better bonuses for them.
also, in addition to the scrambler rifle, first change the heat build up for the assault scrambler rifle from 15 to 30-45 so it overheats at around 50-60 rounds fired. THEN change the scrambler operations to 5% cooldown speed per level so the operations affect the original scrambler AND the assault variant. This also makes it so one does not need to depend on the amarr assault suit to use lazer weapons (unless they want to)

Bad bonuses, they remove they current good bonuses they have. There should be a true racial bonus that applies equally to any suit of the race, for example Gallente could be CPU/PG and speed, Amarr CPU/PG and efficacy. |

The purpose of the Gallente's was so they could armor tank better. Amarr tho, i figure out what they need |

Amarr are traditionally armor buffer fit, so bonuses to armor amount fit perfectly with them.
Gallente are more concerned with speed, so that bonus to the movement penalty of armor plates sounded good. They also traditionally have strong active armor tanks, so you could instead give them bonuses to armor rep amount.
And stop with making the Amarr the split tank class, its just wrong |

Minmatar are meant to be the ones who can both shield and armor tank. So far, only minmatar logis (maybe barely scouts) follow this. |

i would follow eve lore but I am going by the way the dropsuits are in relationship to dust. if amarr are supposed to be the armor tankers and gallente are the fast/armor rep guys, maybe the suit layouts should be swapped? as in
Gallente assault = 180/180 with 3H 4L Amarr assault = 120/210 with 3H 4L
and if so, then the racial bonuses would be 2% per level armor repair rate to gallente and 2% armor extender efficiency per level?
tho ive read on the forums that you shouldnt make the suits based on lore only. |

Lore is not the end all be all, i'll give you that. It describes the flavor of things, and perhaps a starting point. The final numbers and balance are purely up to the devs.
But we do have to keep in mind that DUST is part of a larger universe. As the games integrate, it will become more common to do cross game comparisons. People will get confused if things switch between the games for no reason.
And thats what it really feels like, that the gallente and amarr designs were switched. I think all people are asking for is to switch them back. You don't hurt the balance of things, but you suddenly start respecting the lore.
Now as to your changes, I would take the 180/180 over to a 165/195 split. This emphasises both races as armor tankers (like they are). I think the bonuses you have are spot on. |
