Did anyone ask for a price tag on the free transportation? And once again they failed to listen to us. Rather than removing the HP buff on militia LAVs, they are screwing everybody by making us run our slow asses everywhere now.
Also, a shield recharge delay on vehicles, WTF? One AR shot and I'll have to wait for the 6 seconds again? GG CCP
CCP Frame wrote:Dear players, Today DUST 514 will go offline for an extended period of time starting from 11:00 GMT. Server is expected to come back up at 11:50 GMT. Today we are: * Ending Mordu's Challenge event (rewards will be deployed next Tuesday) * Applying changes to the LAVs, and for more details, here is our Game Design team's message: Quote:There are a number of issues with the LAVs, which weGÇÖll be addressing in a series of updates. The first two will be going out today in a hotfix. "Murder Taxi" FixThis issue is not limited to just the Militia vehicles, but the infinite supply of them certainly doesnGÇÖt help the situation. To discourage wanton (yes, wanton! ) abuse of LAVs weGÇÖll be making them consumable. GÇó The Baloch - Impact and Onikuma - Impact given as starting items to new characters will now be consumable. This means all current players who have this item will only have 1 run of it before it becomes unusable. It is not available on the market, but the Baloch and Onikuma (which are functionally identical to the Impact versions) will be available. GÇóAll newly created characters will be given 10 copies of the Baloch (GA, MN characters) and Onikuma (AM, CA characters). When these run out youGÇÖll need to dip into your savings, so use them wisely! Saga-II FixThe Saga-IIs were removed last week because they were put out prematurely and had a number of issues. Upon their return, this is how they will stack up to the existing Saga: Saga: Heal Shield Rate: 16 HP/s Shield Recharge Delay: 0s Shield Depleted Recharge Delay: 2.5s ISK Price: 40,000 ISK Skill Pre-Reqs: Vehicle Command I, Caldari LAV I Saga-II: Heal Shield Rate: 35 HP/s Shield Recharge Delay: 6s Shield Depleted Recharge Delay: 6s ISK Price: 65,000 ISK Skill Pre-Reqs: Vehicle Command I, Caldari LAV II GÇÿLC-225GÇÖ Saga-II: Heal Shield Rate: 35 HP/s Shield Recharge Delay: 6s Shield Depleted Recharge Delay: 6s ISK Price: N/A (approx. 100 AUR) Skill Pre-Reqs: No Skill Pre-Reqs GÇóThe tweaked shield regen numbers mean that after 11 seconds both vehicles will have healed an almost identical amount of HP, but thereafter the Saga-II completes healing the base 1425 HP total in 46s whereas the Saga does so in almost double the time (89 seconds). GÇóThe Saga-II comes with a default Reactive Deflection Field module which is has no PG/CPU requirements but is functionally equivalent to a Shield Hardener I module. Effectively, the bonus here is the 45 CPU and 5 PG you save. GÇóThe Saga-II comes with a GÇÿBrimstoneGÇÖ ST-1 Missile Launcher, which is functionally equivalent to the ST-1 Missile Launcher but has no skill requirements. Further to these two fixes, weGÇÖre in the process of updating how collision damage is calculated and addressing vehicles, vehicle modules, turrets and vehicle skills in a rebalance pass that weGÇÖre hoping to complete for Uprising 1.4 or a hot-fix thereafter. This is likely to be a fairly substantial overhaul so once weGÇÖre in a position to do so weGÇÖll make sure you all get a good look at them and weGÇÖll attempt to address any concerns before finalizing the update. Feel free to post your feedback right here! DUST Game Design Team Thank you.

Based on how often you would actually see someone recall LAVs, this is a good move. |

Actually, it seemed they listened to me. Sorry you didn't like it.. ^_^
Honestly, it's a good move and one that I suggested a while back alongside the removal of free suits (other than a single suit with an assault rifle), now whenever we blow them up, Tank or AVer we know it cost money, when you see everyone taking them and just rushing into the city and abandoning them, you know there's ISK being lost.
Maybe, the losses will stack up and people will start using Dropships for proper transport, so Pilots actually have a role. |

What is a LAVs 'proper' role though? I'd argue people would rather risk the low price of a LAV than a more expensive and conspicuous dropship. |

Light Transport and Recon, will only be an Assault role when CCP adds a shield to the gunners position. |

Quote:The Light Attack Vehicle (LAV) represents a new generation of mobile support vehicle, an agile and effective unit, adept at assisting both infantry and other vehicles on the battlefield with its cadre of electronic warfare subsystems and all-terain maneuverability modules. Whether employed as a scout vehicle or as an anti-infantry unit, the LAV is a ubiquitous part of New Eden's modern battlefield. |

As if any of the current maps involve distances that actually require transportation. LAV's came about after build #2 a little over a year ago, during the "rolling map" that has not been seen since. THAT actually required dropship/LAV type transportation. Not many of those players left however, to actually recount the need for them. No map that we currently have in rotation justifiably needs a LAV. None. |

You may not have suggested this, but others did. This is a huge step forward for the game. Everything should have a price. LAVs still need tweaked, but I like how they are doing it step-by-step instead of all at once like normal.
Don't ask for a nerf then complain when it's not what you wanted. If it reduces LAV spam, it worked. |

I'd argue Manas Peak skirmish is a map/mode that is greatly affected by LAVs. |

You going to see more scouts now, and less LAV's at the start of the battle, and that is a GOOD THING.
Imagine the epic knife fights in the first 5 minutes of the battle... is going to be EPIC. |

You can buy the cheap ISK militia versions and then recall them. This is much needed because too many times the team quota would be reached because people are too inconsiderate to recall their free LAVs. |

I like it.
Transport ain't dead because of this, it's just not throwaway. The lower echelons of LAVs also won't be -that- costly. Is rapid delivery into the hotzone without recalling worth the 15-20k ISK the LAV will cost? That's now a call you'll have to make in that situation. I don't dislike that dynamic.
Just start recalling them more often instead of forgetting them once they've served their purpose.
Not sure why people are acting as if this is the death of LAVs. They're still there, they've not even been changed. |

We currently only have one map, what you see is in game is just a section of that map (with only one section getting props at a time). There's been some videos by CCP however where they show multiple sections at once. If when they increase the player count to 48 they extend the maps to include two sections at a time, then LAVs and dropships would have a role. |
