EVEs longevity can be attributed more to lack of competition in its niche rather than actual game quality however I imagine its core of fans attracted to it by being able to live out all their internet tough guy fantasies will be hard to sway to another game that might actually punish them for acting like twats

IF EVE was in development today and had to compete with Star Citizen it would have failed miserably and would have never grown. Dust is a saturated market full of shooters and newer ones come out each year including fresh IP. It is simply a huge market and CCP doesnt have the luxury of 5 years to make this game good. The notion that CCP will keep putting money into is quite possible but the numbers arent going to be climbing and at an avg 3K daily player count and falling(it will fall even harder once EON, LOI and other closed beta veteran and shooter veterans just stop altogether) the game will cease to function properly because matchmaking will be abysmal. Maybe not in the US but defintiely worldwide and if those players come to play on the US servers then the lag issues will spike like crazy driving more players out and so on and so forth. So keep sucking on that pipe-dream it just a fantasy delusion that holds no value to anyone who has an actual clue.
