Yea it's already been discussed. It would help to do a thread search before just creating a new one. This is Dust 514. MAG has no place here. |

although I agree on the duplicate post, alot of mag developers worked on dust, and it's an event that has direct correlation on the dust community, with mag gone you will likely see a sudden but small influx of players to the game.
as well as the potential threat of dust meeting the same fate as mag eventually, though I doubt it since mag is an unsupported game while dust is constantly supported.

@Michael
MAG actually has a place here in Dust. A large chunk of the Dust players come from MAG while the other large chunk comes from Eve Online with the rest being CoD, HALO, BF players. In fact, it is acceptable to post MAG references here in the game such as the Goat while it is also acceptable to see Eve players post stuff like "adapt or die" or "welcome to New Eden" every time a corp gets robbed or a player complains about losing his free LAV to a packed AV grenade.
@Calisk
Back in the old days, Eve Online had to compete with another game called Earth and Beyond (by EA Games). At the time, Eve Online was just a fledgling game that was full of bugs, major imbalances, lack of proper tutorials, and you literally had no protection roaming around high-sec because Concord was almost non-existent at the time (kind of like our modern-day pub stomping). On top of that, CCP was also just starting as a business in general with only a board game being their first game they developed while they were competing against a multi-billion dollar behemoth we now know as Electronic A-holes. Surprisingly, after reading up on the history of that game, Earth and Beyond got discontinued and suddenly Eve Online experienced a sudden influx of new players. Nowadays, Eve Online has become the Gold Standard when it comes to persistent MMOs and in-game economics.
Dust will not be any different than Eve if MAG were to get shut down. Besides, I for one welcome our new MAG overlords. |

don't count on it. dust is dying fast. there was not much left on mag anyway so there will not be a great influx of players and even still some that do, will not stay.

keep telling yourself that. you can not compare the two. one is a pc strategy mmo and the other is a console FPS. too different types of games that have different appeals. Console FPS players are not as patient.

MAG wont be able to handle a large influx of players. The server Sony has it running on now is probably a hotwired Commodore 64 and the gerbil powering it is asthmatic. |

Dust has a long,
a very long,
long as in "you wouldn't believe have long it actually is" kind of long,
not talking about a trip to the market here,
a really freakishly mega super long way to go,
to even come close to the genetal quality of MAG.
Just the lack of proxy chat in Dust is a clear sign to me that its more a game for the "spreadsheet in space" crowd than it ever will be for the true hard core FPS playerbase, which already mostly have left this game. For my part, its probably dead to me the minute I unpack my shiny new PS4.
Sorry for being a party pooper to the fanboys, the fact still remains, Dust is still mechanically such a bad game that PS3 launch title Warhawk is a dream to play in comparison...
Edit: Leaving "genetal" typo as it is. |

Why anyone from MAG will want to come to Dust ? This is their chance for freedom, their chance to escape the never ending grind....Lets be honest, the people that still playing Dust 514 to day are trap in a SP gap with an endless grind, not many people plays Dust this days because is "FUN". |

As a veteran from all three Corporations in MAG, it will be missed. Now we just need 64 vs 64 in Dust to make up for the loss of a truly massive action game. 32 VS. 32 Would be fine for now but 64 VS. 64 would be great in the future. Make it happen CCP |

And except for the current server performance, what is wrong with it?
Does it lack half its content?
Does it have a measily 16 vs 16 as the biggest game mode?
Is the general mechanic horrid, like in Dust?
Is there issues with basic aiming?
Will the terrain grab you?
Does it suffer from major balance issues?
Does it have bland game modes which are all more or less the same?
Does it suffer from massive input lag and general unresponsive inconsistent controller response?
I could go on... |

To Babar. It depends on where your maturity level is in terms of FPS(s). If you are a COD/BF3 fan, than you are more than likely either a very causal player, or do not have pubical hair yet. If you are a Red Orchestra/America's Army type, then you are more than likely more mature/refined in your shooter. MAG missed on so many levels that you start to lose count, after awhile. The very fact that you can "heal" yourself by injecting "X" into your arm is all you really need to look to. It's a kids game, and that is why it failed. Dust will go down the same path, if the Dev's are not careful. |

Wtf you talking??? COD nor BF players liked MAG. MAG's gameplay can't be compared to anything else. You're mad cause you can heal yourself....so what? It actually makes sense that you can heal yourself with so many bullets flying all over the place. In dust, you can stand in a device that supplies ammo and can repair your damaged armor.
Devs better lock this thread before I get started. MAG is/was an awesome game in every aspect....it just didn't have support or allowed for competitve gaming. |
