Hi, All.
I was just looking over the forums and see alot of arguments about stats and skill/module modifiers. Honestly, the forums are overflowing with players who have either wrong information or word of mouth 'stats'. I was thinking it may be a good idea to have a game mode/tab where we are able to test dropsuit fittings against each other.
Say I put together a Cal Assault Proto suit with some shield and armor extension and would like to see how it responds to various weapon/vehicle damage types (explosive, Hybrid, ect... excluding impact damage). It would not neccesarily have to be a 'gamemode' but just an information tab/comparison circles that displays its ability to take/deliver damage of the fore mentioned types. Of course nothing beats combat testing but this will give a general idea of how the DS is to be used effectively. I think this would help remove the subjectivity of the arguments pertaining to stats of the various equipment. It would also help new players \vets see what the different combinations of gear will do.
All it would require is a script that proccesses the math of HP minus the direct/splash damage of various weapons and vehicles with an output sheet. I understand there are a slew of variables, but this would give a solid point to reference from. You could even choose the weapon/modules/skill bonus levels and see the numerical outcome of damage recieved/delivered. I dont think any future mercenary would load up on expensive gear and run into battle without having an isolated test (at least I wouldnt). I would much rather have functional game mechanics rather than fluff additions like mini games in the MQ.
The more resources we have as mercs will help us balance the game, rather than having CCP step in to tweak 'undesirables'. It would also give CCP a basic testing tool, if they dont have one already (although with all the nerf posts I assume they don't besides the logs they get from us using the equipment in game). Testing the various scenarios will be impossible, but having basic information will prevent players from asking for wasteful changes. |
