So what's wrong with changing your gear, when you figure out that your enemies have nothing to compete with you?
When the best guy on the opposing team goes 30-something/8 with a proto flaylock setup (as part of a proto-squad, you know who you are), you can't tell me that he's making a profit, nor that it was necessary to have a good game.
I'm new to the world of MMOFPSs, and I understand that the rules are different here. But from the games I used to play, this is what I am used to:
* Strong players do not play on free-for-all servers, because it's like stealing lollipops from children. And that's not even involving "virtual skill".
* If they do play on FFAs, then they do artificially handicap themselves, take it easy, or at least switch up the teams occasionally.
* Nobody, ever, would go with an entire SQUAD of strong players to an FFA with the purpose of stomping over newbies.
My impression is, that the biggest problem with matchmaking right now, is that casual solo-players and competitive corporations are all thrown into one pot. PC is the only thing you can do outside of instant battles, and that's just not always an option as I understand it.
I don't understand why we can't play in self-organised league matches or at least organise practice matches against other corporations. That would give the elite something to do that's more constructive than stomping over randoms.
Of course another problem is that you have to take it to FFAs for the grind. Perhaps that is the biggest problem, and perhaps it can't even be solved other than by making PC more prevalent.
IMO, the endgame should be such that corporations always face other corporations, never randoms.
So I understand if you feel that you have no other choice than to proto stomp, but you can still alleviate the issue with honourable behaviour and by advocating for any changes that would be necessary for you to change your ways. It is of course your choice in the end, as much as it is my choice whether to respect you for it or not.
And because that sounded entirely too serious, I will end this post with a zebra hanging from a tree. |
