The blaster turrets have splash damage.

A few things are going on here that you may not be aware of.

First we have the famous client/server/client network connectivity and that produces, for ground troops, the chance to die [u]After[/p] ducking behind cover. What happens is your client didn't receive the hit notifications early enough to prevent you from moving. However, the server sent them and you are going to die.

How does that effect LAV drivers? If the Turret (whatever type) put rounds near your head and you start driving away you will still die. And you will be just as ticked off as the Merc in cover that died.

Now consider that your head has a 195% damage bonus. That is how Snipers can OHK most Mercs. Look at the splash damage for most turrets and you, sir, are going to die if they splash your head.

Finally, you need to sit in a Turret and watch LAVs. They are very hard to hit while they provide Zero protection to those in the LAV. I watch the heads of drivers heading away from my Turret all the time. And that is where I aim. I kill most LAVs directly but I get a reasonable number of Kills by popping Drivers, passengers and Gunners.

It is a small balance against the Murder Taxi Game.

I bet your lav is a lumbus or abron. They are worthless. They don't have doors. My free lav with doors protects me better than my lumbus or abron. After losing four if them I created a temp toon to create a shield lav toon. Much better.
