If you look at the w/l ratios in public matches, you'll realise that most ppl couldn't afford to run proto suits all the time. You can't base ISK solely on people who run PC or always run in dedicated well run squads. |

You can't base ISK solely on people who run PC or always run in dedicated well run squads. This isn't to make the people who can't/don't run proto feel inferior. It's to point out that there's a decent percentage of the player-base, arguably the most active, that has nothing to do with the in-game currency. We could trade it all in for more suits, but that just side-steps the problem. Then I have functionally limitless suits instead of functionally limitless ISK.
Only a tiny minority runs PC as CCP admits...and if you run public games, and look at the w/l ratio of most people, you'll realise that the MAJORITY couldn't afford to run proto suits. So if you make it even harder for them to run proto, you are penalising the MAJORITY.
So any new isk sink would have to ADD to the game for the MINORITY that swims in isk...without penalising the MAJORITY. |

The thing is, you shouldn't be playing for ISK, you should play it because you're having fun.
The same goes for EVE. When I started out, I was blown away making my first million. Later on, my first billion blew me away. However, after a few years (yes, I was slow), I got into trading and suddenly I had more ISK than I could possibly lose while PVPing. I had mates make fun of me for faction and officer fitting pretty much every PVP ship I used. What some of them didn't realise is that I play the game for fun, not to make ISK. It's just a means to an end, and tbh, the fun didn't really increase by flying more expensive ships. As it stands now, I tend to trade (mostly station trading because I'm lazy) for a month and that tends to last me for a year of PVP in EVE. Pays for my subscription too...
ISK is like money in real life...it's useful, but once you reach a certain level it has diminishing returns.
PS: I want a bar in my quarters and would pay for that... |
