At first I thought it was like before: jumping at the moment of detonation, but after a few matches one guy throw at me one and I barely escape the full AoE (without jumping) but it did blast me about 150 hp of my shield so maybe is about the full range of the flux.
It's just a theory and since I've also seen scouts getting blown up by me throwing the flux right at their faces maybe I'm wrong... it's still funny seeing people getting killed by flux nades on the kill feed tho. What he said, if you jump while one is detonating near you there a chance it will kill you. |

I just had some poor guy kill himself with a flux grenade.
It was a Something + Flaylock Scout vs a Forgegun + Scrambler Pistol Heavy. I had the hardest time trying to track the bugger with my scrambler pistol, but I got him down to basically no health and just as he was opening up another salvo with the flaylock, his second flux grenade detonated ~ 3 meters from him and killed him

The flux grenades are probably disrupting the electrical signals running throughout the clones body like Frankenstein in reverse. |

I guess i could see how it could be a problem. Imagine a weapon that does x amount of damage. Whenever it hits a player you'd have to make some basic mechanic that takes all of its extra damage and negates it.
I would imagine that some mechanics solutions are:
1) Make 2 kinds of actual damage, shield and armor. Then the flux does no damage to armor. Unlikely...because this would get really difficult to start applying damage from weapon damage profiles hopping from shield into armor.
2) Have the server check the target shield HP. If target shield < flux damage, make flux damage = target HP. I could see the LAV then become the target, which could cause there to be no suit HP check. |
