So I just felt like watching a few of the trailers for DUST 514 and I saw in the E3 2011 trailer some kind of structure firing a laser or something to the sky. I just had an idea for a new game mode for that. It is kinda like domination but with a different perspective (plus it would have it's own structure like in the video).
So, let's get on to the game mode: So, I was thinking of a single capture point where your team has to hold for some time to gain points (it doesn't fire until it charges). Now if let's say a team has 21 points already (maybe out of 100 or more) and loses the structure the points will remain in 21 but will stop there until the team regains power over the structere.
Now, how do you get the structure? You basicly have 5 generators around the point that you have to hack to take down the structure's shields so you can enter in it. When you enter it you have to hack or maybe just stay around the point for a small-medium amount of time.
Concept of the game mode: You pretty much have to hold a stucture for an amount of time until it's weapon is fully charged to fire to an MCC or something. You have to hack an amount of generators so you can enter the structure to get the point. If you lose the point while the weapon is charging, the charge proccess will remain at the same spot until you regain the structure. |

Actually that "structure firing a laser or something to the sky." is an orbital artillery cannon (or something like that) and it's purpose is to shoot EVE ships in space not the MCC I'm not clear on all the mechanics of it but yeah that's what it is and does.

The idea is not well thought out unless you're actually suggesting something closer to skirmish 1.0.
The generators make absolutely no sense 1. If the generators are hacked then the shields go down and everyone is inside- no need to fight for the generators OR... 2. If one side gets the generators working, they can enter. But not the other side? that doesn't make sense
also this is really unbalanced because if one side gets all the generators first then they hack the cannon and just need to defend one generator to keep the enemy out. |

seems like just a different version of skirmish to me. instead of having the regular 5 objectives shooting at the mcc you have 1 mega objective shooting the mcc. in the end its still the same game of controling the regular objectives to destroy the mcc. I guess it would be harder because to shoot the mega weapon you have to first control all the regular objectives where the way skirmish is you only need to control the majority of them to take down the mcc. I personally would like the objective closest to the mcc to be a mcc shield recharger to add a defensive reason to keep control of your front line base objective. |

I like this, the way I see domination should have went in the first place is that instead of the null cannon (seriously ccp its a bloody cruise missle type thing) the map should be set around a massive artillery centrepiece. Once captured the thing slowly aims towards the opposing MCC then fires after 10 minutes and its game other. The other team needs to hack it to make it target the other MCC.
What your left with is an ambush esque war (pretty much like whats currently going on) only a greater chance of cloning the opposing team since the firing mechanism takes so long to go off, but its a 1 shot kill to add some intensity to the fight.
Anyway am favour of the OPs idea, ill settle for any new game modes at this point, having 2(ish) is just plain bs  |

The cannon is called a Orbital defense Relay or 'Skyfire' Cannon if I remember correctly. |

also this is really unbalanced because if one side gets all the generators first then they hack the cannon and just need to defend one generator to keep the enemy out. It's not like that, when you hack the generators you don't get the shields for you, it only turns them off. But when you capture the structure the shields go back up for you. |

The shields won't be too far away from the structure and it' not hitting an MCC continuously throuhout the fight it only shoots at it at the last point you get. |
