I have seen many threads and proposals made about armor tanking vs. shields. After playing the game for a while I think that the main problem for armor is not just the plates themselves, but is instead the armor repairers. My idea is to change them from the basic 2, enhanced 4, and complex 5, to basic 5, enhanced 10, and complex 15.
For any of you who think the numbers may be too high such as the complex at 15, need I remind you that shields recharge at 25hp per rep on their own. Not to mention that a complex shield recharger boosts the recharge by 42% (35hp per rep). Another problem I have so far with current armor tanking are the new plates (ferroscale and reactive). Both sets are complete jokes with reactive starting at 15hp and a whole whopping bonus of 1, yes thatGÇÖs 1 rep per second. Compared to shields at 22hp and 25 reps per second, this is very sad. The reactive should be changed from 15hp/1 rep per second to 40hp/2 rep per second. Also, the enhanced and complex should go from 25hp/1 rep and 45hp/2 reps to 60hp/3 reps and 80hp/5 reps. Movement penalties for these plates should remain the same.
The ferroscale (plates that have no movement penalties) are also underpowered. A basic starts at 25hp, enhanced 40hp, and complex at 60hp. This needs to be changed to 30, 50, and 70hp. The ferroscale plates should have more hp than shields, but also not as much hp as standard plates due to the lack of movement penalties.
One final idea that needs to be added as soon as possible is a built in armor repairer in all armor based suits. The built in reps should mimic the repairers that we currently have, and should be scaled based on the suit (basic 2reps, advanced 3reps, and proto 5 reps).

Not all shields regen at 25 hp/sec
Minmatar assault suits have regen of 18hp/sec, and I hear that commandos have a regen of 10hp/sec.
Just doubling the regen on repair modules would be be good enough. |

Armor repairers could use a slight buff, but those numbers are way too large. You're looking at suits with well over 50 hp/s perma regen while under fire while still having room to fit plates.
The problem is plates. The new ones are too weak and require too much fitting to be useful, and the speed penalties for the armor plates are too high. |

A doubling of the repair rate would be nice. 4, 6, and 10 respectively. I wonder if, lore wise, armor repairs slower than shields because you are physically re-creating something with nanites, where as shields you are just replacing electrons. Any EVE lore experts out there? |

Any EVE lore experts out there? When you have Amarr hybrid tanking better than Minmatar and plasma with more range than pulse lasers, I think lore goes out the window. |

Well in EVE armor modules repair low but they repair every second, and shields repair very high every 3 seconds.
With armor repair its hard to say what the nanites are doing they could be mashing together a bunch of hydrogen until they create the desired element. For shields it depends what the shield is made of, for example photons have slight properties of matter so its possible in the future to use these properties to make light "solid".
To the post above, eve lore has been terrible thing to follow in Dust 514. Lore is the reason many things in this game are broken. |

No they don't
They both have cycles. Armour repairs at the end of the cycle. Shield repairs at the beginning of the cycle.
The cycle lasts between 6 and 30 secs depending upon the module. |
