But at 3x the cost it Doesn't feel any better than the Advanced aside from the fact that I can put a boundless HMG on it.
Any Heavy's out there wanna share some good fits, or is it rule of thumb to just stack armor plates?
Edit: Basic Frame Proto heavy by the way, Sentinel Heavy looked very unappealing. |

Send me a message in game if you're interested, I have a few fittings I'd recommend for various situations.

You should definitely stack the complex armor plating. May sound ridiculous because you're already really slow, but come on now - you're not going to when any strafing contests either way. Plus since your base value is the lowest the 10% penalty is the lowest compared to any other suit. |

One complex plate is .511 m/s off your sprint, which is nearly two feet. So in that extra second it takes to cover that last two feet till safety of cover your enemy has that extra second to land 3-4 AR bullets which will do more damage than the HP you gained from the plate that cost you that precious second. |

As many plates as possible if you run with a Logi on your tail all game.
Plates and Reppers if you don't have consistent Logi support.
I'd say make both fittings and use them accordingly. Good luck! |

That is if you are running in the open by yourself. If you stick to a more defensive role however and always have your logi nearby its a different story.
I know some people who have made some speedier heavy fits and say it works great, and that's awesome. Though in my opinion if you are going to do that you probably would of been better off with a medium suit. |

Hope it doesn't give you buyer's remorse, but you can fit a Boundless, Flux, SMG, 2x Complex Damage Mods, Complex Repper and Adv. Plates on an Advanced Fat Suit with the right fitting skills...
The Proto just isn't that shiny.
You may as well abuse the broken armor system, though. Combine Complex Armor Plates with one Ferroscale Plate in your lows. Then take a look at your movement speed and cackle maniacally. (ED: Works best with Sentinel, I'll admit.)
I refuse to do it, but my brethren fatties may as well get every bonus they can. |

I'm a proto sentinel, 4 lows seemed better than 2 highs. Here's my tryhard fit:
-Gastuns/Boundless HMG -Specialist Flaylock (Core is on the way) -Enhanced Precision Scanner on the high (this gives me ~47 dB scan precision, enough for revealing medium dropsuits on radar) -1 Enhanced Armor Plate (ferroscale PG cost is too high) -3 Complex Ferroscale Plates -Flux Grenades
Before 1.2 I had 4 complex armor plates which gave me 1000 armor HP, but I was super slow and easily killed. After equipping ferroscales I realized how important speed is for surviving in this game. Even aiming got better because turn rate is affect by speed.
This gives me 800 armor HP without sacrificing speed. I don't equip reps because they're so slow repairing armor, and I always try stay with the logibros. If not I just go to the nearest supply depot and change fit to regenerate armor to full. The shield energizer seems useful for this fit as well.
But you're basic heavy. Maybe you could stack 3 kinetic catalyzers for fast heavy. For the 2 highs idk, I wouldn't equip extenders because you'll only get 130 more shield HP, which is not that noticeable when you got 500 shield HP already (if you have the core skill at max). For damage mods I always try to have 3 so they don't apply for heavy, unless you're using a Forge Gun.
I would equip 2 energizers or rechargers so that HP gets regen as fast as possible. Another fit would be 3 regulators and 2 extenders/rechargers/energizers. Another one is basic shield/armor tanking, 2 extenders and 3 ferroscale plates. It's really up to you which one you think is better.

Wow, so the Basic Proto is pretty much a waste of SP. 1 extra low slot feels like I've been ripped off.
As for the ferroscale plates I'm Definitely going to try this. Thanks for the info! |

So are Damage mods not as effective for heavy's? Tank > Damage? |

If you're using a Forge Gun then equip damage mods. But the HMG.....it has low base damage, which a damage mod will increase it just by a small amount. It's not worth it over tanking imo. But idk maybe try them and maybe you can feel the difference?

Though I do agree tanking is better for an HMG heavy and damage mods are better for a forge gun heavy. |

Militia everything with the standard HMG.
I think the slots i use are a militia shield extender and a militia armor repair....side arm is a militia SMG. |

Yes, sadly it is. A group of the more pro players are all using it and doing their best to keep mum lest it get nerfed. (Alldin's "secret fit" that makes Gallente playable.)
I think a bug is a bug and should be out of the game, even if the bug benefits a sorely underprivileged part of the player base. But in any case, it is in the game, so go 3x Complex Plates and 1x Ferroscale plate. Lemme know your mileage.

Funny, I do the exact opposite. I'm a flanking HMG Heavy, so my playstyle usually involves shooting at enemies before they see me, which is why I go all damage to drop them ASAP. Otherwise, I stick with my group, where the bullets get spread more evenly, and so I might as well do more damage.
Forge Gun is one shot one kill whether I have zero or two damage mods, so I use shield extenders to absorb potshots from infantry while I'm lining up my Kamehameha. |
