This is coming from a player who a few months ago created 4 new accounts. 1 for each type of HAV and dropship.
This is a few things I have learned so far.
Shield HAV's: - Good against the majority of Infantry except for forge guns. - Games are So/So I usually end up using a rail gun from the back - You need at least 6200 Shield HP to survive an orbital - You can fit two heavy shield reps but it is not near enough as two heavy reps - Easier to manage heat (the heat sink that fits in the mid slot needs a rework atm it is too good) - Too slow for anything but sitting in the back
Shield Dropships (assault): - Good against the majority of AV (except for forge guns which kill it too quick) - Not good for anything but being a taxi - It does not have the "fear" issue as tanks do. Usually in games my squad and I hunt for tanks because they are force multipliers, but dropships? More to just make them waste their isk.
Armor HAV's: - Good against forge guns and railgun tanks - As more people skill into AV you do see armor dropping a lot quicker - Movement is a lot quicker enabling you to get into the fight quicker and if something goes wrong run away - You need roughly 6500 Armor to survive an orbital (with mods running) - You can fit two heavy repairs - It is better to sit in a madruger with a railgun than it is a gunnlogi for anti-vehicle work. Why? Railgun vs Railgun Armor wins - Missile tanks wreck you -The Heat Sink II is too powerful of a module for blaster turrets
Armor Dropships (assault): - Decent against the majority of AV (except for forge guns again for some reason) - Not good for anything but being a taxi - Same fear issue
Tanks In General: - It really depends on the match and the actual player. Some matches I can run through and murder people easily even if they bring AV (most people have packed grenades or militia swarms). These matches are fairly easy to avoid death. - The average player with some skills into AV makes having a tank a bigger issue. Proto forge guns do massive amounts of damage to armor and shields. Proto swarms can 2-3 shot a decently equipped tank. - It is easy to kill ANY tank with just another person with packed AV grenades (This I do NOT mind since it emphasizes teamwork) - A tank VS tank fight it is usually whoever gets the drop on the other guy. This is always the case in the majority if my tank fights. However there are a few times in which you come up across the guy with 14+M SP in his tank and he runs away running both his heavy repair mods and you barely dent him. - Running spider tanks of 3 is very OP. It is NUTS way too good. 30%+ resists on each shield tank with over 8k shield HP and each with a remote shield transporter. I love running these.
Dropships In General: - They do not feel like force multipliers. The Movile CRU is awesome however the team does not utilize it and the pilot gets no points. - The assault dropship needs a NAVBALL. I can not fathom why this was NOT added. - There needs to be a module or a button that locks your altitude and helps you stabilize your dropship you can actually fire down volleys at enemies. - The targeting cursor needs to be a different color. White on a gallente dropship? You can not even see it. - Add some cover to the logistic/assault dropship gunners. At least have them share the shield - If the shield drops then you can deal damage to occupants. - The % of the damage increase from being shot from the rear is way higher than HAVs. - As more people invest into AV dropships become easier and easier to kill - They need a counter measure, However it is easy to avoid missiles etc. Forge guns are a bit different. - Flying is fine it just takes some getting use to. - Fix the hit indicator |

Nice i did an alt to test Vehicles and the best one is def the LOGI AV. Cant be killed . 35 K-D ratio.
Of course , im about to delete said account, but i was just testing to see if it actually taked some skill to get kills with LAVs. As it is, i can admit im a terrible driver. And going 20-0 in a match was a no sweat...
Oh BTW nice research. +1 Good to know what AV weapon is needed to use vs each vehicle (im infantry all the way) |

I just want to make you aware of your own post.
You said you rail snipe in shield because you don't do well in close engagements.
Then you go on to admit a rail armor tank beats a rail shield tank.
Shield for vehicles is ****.
Also you didn't bring up that an armor repaired recovers 3x the HP of a shield booster. |

Yes Since I have roughly 4M SP In each account I am letting you guys know what I do in each fit. The reason why I railgun snipe with a gunloggi is you can fit two heat sink modules in the low slots allowing you to fire 5 compressed shots before you overheat. Having 1 active module on a madruger allows you to fire 5 compressed shots also. But with a drawback of waiting for the module to recharge. That said Sniping with a shield tank requires less "effort". It is also more dangerous since forgeguns and other railguns can kill you easier. I am just letting you know what I ended up doing with the shield tank.
Yeah I forgot about the armor repair rate. However, A lot of these concerns are everywhere on these forums and I am not saying which is better or not. I just giving a view of what I have seen and what I think is missing.
I have seen some really really good tanks. But the majority of them are bad. You can waste 2.5m SP and get standard in everything and do very well. A decent tank requires a little bit of SP a great tank requires a lot. There is no between. |

Im not berating your efforts or anything just pointing our in your own words that armor > shields.
Going to point it out in every single vehicle thread until I quit this game or it gets fixed. |

the assault dropship is extremely viable. you just need to avoid manned installations, and red lining railgun tanks. |

I can see that. But it is all situational. A shield logistics LAV is a hell of a lot better than an armor one. The speed should be switched on the gunloggi and the madruger. You also tend to loose more shield when you collide into objects than armor. If someone has proto swarms I dont find that a problem in a gunloggi. In a madruger? A big problem. Proto forge gun? A problem for both. The biggest problem I see is the speed of the tanks. Cut the speed of the gallente HAV. It is way too quick. |

It was at first, however more and more people have more and more SP to invest into things like AV. Making it very difficult for a dropship pilot. 1 Proto gunner can essentially lockdown the airspace. Maybe there could be a module that picks up the heat signature from the charge of a forge gun? This is the future no? That should not be that hard to do... |

It does not follow EVE's game style. Really weird. I can almost say Amarr tanks will be 3 mid 4 low and Minmatar will have 4 Mid and 3 Low slots based upon every other suit etc. Thank you for the bumps and responses. I know the majority of this stuff is scattered around the forum. |

for an armor tank orbitals aint bad, if you modules are free, I just had one placed on me, hit my hardeners and rep and rolled right through it, left with 95% armor HP |
