Imbalances are the poison of this game and we are sipping a little more everyday. Wouldnt it be great to face ppl with the same gear and where the only advantages would be the skills? |

I was actually thinking something along the lines of limit what level of gear you can have in a match, like you can only use up to Advanced level gear, or just Standard. The higher the match gear limit you play in the bigger the reward, but of cousrse the bigger risk. Just an idea. |

Sounds alot like the academy. I was thinking more in the lines of a mode where there are no stacking 900 life on a medic or a a happy dual weilding flaylocker.
-Basic weapons -Basic suit (Fit whatever you can on it as far as modules)
Only differences would be core skills so that it still justifies the grinding. This could probably make flying a dropship possible, who knows.

The central point of Dust 514 is using the right gear for the right situation and having the skills to back it up. The issue right now is not the fact that PRO suits annihilate MLT suits itself. It's the fact that a complete, organized PRO squad more often than not gets thrown into matches they already won because the game assigned them mostly non squadded randoms.
High end gear is not the end game content you just use because you're already there and that's how it is. All suits and mods are tools that you use to ensure victory and, more importantly, profit.
A matchmaking system fitting for New Eden has to embrace the variety of different suit tiers as part of the game while at the same time ensure that the matches have an equal chance of victory for both sides, but not every single player.
While everyone should be allowed to field whatever they want. The matchmaking has to account for this possible decisions and the overall skill of all players to add a similar composition of high and low SP/gear/skill chars for both teams so that every time you field a PRO suit there's a certain risk of losing it and going negative in effect.
This should teach players that going Proto is not always a wise decision even if the k/dr suggests otherwise and in effect lessen the imbalance to below the level of pubstomping.
On a related note: I'm all in for small training/tournament like matches with whatever rules one could think of. There should just not be a way to earn ISK through this (ok placing bets and bounties would be awesome but no default payout ) |
