CCP Frame wrote:Dear players, On Thursday, July 4th we deployed the Triple Skill Point event to Tranquility. After the deployment we discovered the script that was supposed to increase your Skill Point cap was not working as intended, increasing only the amount of skill points remaining to the original, 190.400 cap. This made players that already capped their skill points by playing from Wednesday to Thursday receive no skill point cap increase after the downtime on Thursday. Because of this error, we will be deploying a new Triple SP script today (5th of July), to reset everyoneGÇÖs weekly Skill Point cap and increase it to its intended triple value GÇô 571.200 for the duration of this event. DUST 514 will go offline for an extended period of time today and is expected to come back online at 12:00 GMT. We apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused on the first day of the event, and we hope that you will enjoy the remainder of this event. -DUST 514 Community team

The duration of the event part implies they are following the original schedule, which had it ending with the normal SP reset on Wednesdays. The only people that actually would have been "hurt" by this oversight would be those that capped out under the normal ~190k cap before they adjusted it, and continued playing after that and received only the SP based on their WP results (unless, perhaps they had mroe time to actually play, but wtopped because they hit their cap, then they missed some opportunity according to how long that may have been).
Just saying, I doubt they would be extending it an extra day becase a small percentage may have been left out for less then a days worth of play time (in most cases, I would hazard a guess it was considerably less then 24 hours). That would be grossly imbalanced even more...as it would give the die hards an extra 24 hour period to potentially max out an additional 571k SP that otherwise would not be availble to those who couldn't be on all day Wednesday to exploit it. Funny how the wheel goes 'round sometimes, eh? |

Nope... was never intended to run a full week. It was scheduled to run 6 days, started on Thursday's downtime, not Wednesday, and was scheduled to end with the following Wednesday's downtime.
According to their announcement about catching the exceptions (those who played Wednesday and/or capped out by sometime Thursday under the original 190k), and how they were making adjustments to compensate with Friday morning's downtime--they were sticking to the original schedule of ending it with Wednesday's downtime. |

If you're asking for a quote on the original schedule for the event, that post has a link to the thread where the schedule was revealed and the event was discussed and reclarified exhaustively. |

It was discussed at length in the thread linked within that posting, and it was clarified by the DEV's that this in fact was scheduled to end with Wednesday's normal reset. They even gave their reason for not starting it on a Wednesday reset. |

As stated earlier, it could be potentially even more imbalanced.
Do the math.
If someone was able to fully cap 190,400 in one day....what makes you think they couldn't recap thier 571,200 from Friday to Wednesday, and then do it again the following Wednesday?
I mean, after all, they did it on July 3rd (190,400 X 3 = 517,200). Why couldn't they do that again on July 10th?
Now, compare that to everyone else who couldn't cap out in one day.
This also plays with those who have more than just a couple hours available on Wednesdays. If they could knock out a substantial amount, say....100k, vs players that might only get 50k--then they are shortchanged. Compare the numbers:
100k x 3=300k, they have 90k left after next downtime and 3x is cut off (190k-100k). That's a total of 390k for that week.
50k x 3-150k, they have 140k left until next downtime (190k-50k). That's a total of 290k
So... no matter how you slice it, it's still unbalanced.
Have to remember their intent was to give everyone a shot at earning 571,200 SP within the duration of one normal SP cap.
Have they not met this goal (and even exceeded that, might I add)?
They've delivered what was promised. Those that were able to exploit the situation and got more, should be thankful they've gotten to keep it. Another game I've played was notroious for taking away anything gained due to an exploit, including banning people for taking advantage of it. |

why should they feel compelled to extend it an extra day? It's a holiday weekend, and there was still 5 full days of playtime until it would terminate.
Are you really thinking CCP is afraid people would feel disenfranchised because they couldn't cap out their SP in 5 days versus the originally planned 6 day window? Especially when it's stamped all over nearly every guide/forum to this game to start a 7-day booster on a Saturday so you can cap out before Wednesday reset and then cap out again before the booster wears off so you get 2 caps worth at 1.5x the normal rate?
Really?
/facepalm
They have provided what was planned. Sufficient opportunity to earn 571, 200 SP from Wednesday to Wednesday. No matter how it happened, (capping out Wednesday or Thursday, then again after the reset Friday, or just once after the Friday reset)---everyone has had an opportunity to get the promised shot at 571,200SP.
Now, those that were able to benefit from the slip up and get as much as 2x that (capping once, then hit it again after Friday's reset)---not sure I'd be mouthing off about it, in case big brother decides to take action against you for exploiting the glitch. |

im sticking with subjective experience and intuition. This has payed off in the past.
Guessing your basing it in part on the 8 day event they held, which was announced to run Wednesday to Thursday (4/24 to 5/2)...they planned it to happen that way.
This one was specifically set up to run from Thursday to Wednesday. From the Dev Blog:
Quote:Triple SP Event
Starting on July 4 and ending on July 10, we will be hosting a Triple Skill Point Event for all players who log in to play. During the event period your skill point cap will be tripled and your skill booster bonuses are stacked with the triple skill point reward. DonGÇÖt miss out on this great opportunity to earn extra skill points and get that level 5 skill that youGÇÖve been training for.
Here's some details on the Triple SP event that you will want to know:
GÇóThe weekly SP cap will reset on Wednesday, July 3rd as usual after DT. If you hit your weekly in the first day then you will still be eligible for the extended SP cap for the event on Thursday. GÇóThe passive SP gain and caps are not part of the triple SP event, so they will work normally. GÇóYour extra SP earned from skill boosters do not count towards your weekly SP cap.
Unfortunately, the implementation was bugged when loaded out on Thursday, July 4th. However, they were made aware of it and they took action on the problem and had a fix within 24 hours of capturing the exception.
I find it odd that you continue to hope for an extra day this time around, in light of all the evidence pointing to the contrary. In one thread where the bug was reported, discussed, and ultimately lead to quick reaction, a DEV even said this: https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=1011729#post1011729
Quote:We'll resolve everyone with a bugged cap so you'll be able to hit the full cap by the end of the event. We're aiming to have a fixed deployed tomorrow during downtime so you'll get up to the full 570k-ish SP cap.
By the way... you posted in that thread...granted, it was several pages down the line. Guess you weren't paying much attention to the DEV posts in it, or you might have picked up on it too.
So, again....they have delivered on what was promised, and should be no need to extend the event further. If by chance, it is still active after the Wednesday reset, than that would appear to be a glitch. As it stands right now, there shouldn't be a reason to have it go longer than originally intended without it being an oversight or glitch in the scripting. |
