Don't worry, I have the ability to keep it up forever even if I get blown out of the sky every match.
Basically I'm looking for anyone's advice on how to properly tank it, I can use any and all vehicle modules aside from armor, and have the essentials like Vehicle Core Upgrades maxed out, so I should be able to fit anything shield related.
After playing an HAV for so long, I think I might have an idea on how to missuse these buggers properly and die laughing...
Advice?
Mainly I'm looking for advice on whether to focus purely on shield tanking, or if the speed modification modules are worth it. |

if you dont fit them at all you wont lose as much ISK. its hilarious people are still using these things. |

That's actually pretty good advice that I did not consider, I just may use them entirely unfitted besides a Compressed rail, a pair of freebie militia missile launchers and a mobile CRU for lulz, if it is that cheap, I'll make an unfitted and a fitted and compare costs. |

I've come across a well-fit shield tanked one. My forge gun took, if I recall correctly, three consecutive hits to take it down. The pilots good skill made that difficult (a bit of a hyperbole, that).
As an average Forge gunner, I would recommend shield tank, if you insist upon using a Caldari ADS. A good Forge gunner would not care, as no matter what, you'd be easy pickings. |

I'm likely going to choose the Caldari Assault Dropship over the Gallente one as Shields tank explosives (read, Swarms) significantly better then armor (-20% instead of +20%), and the Assault is because I want to try out a concept using the Small Turret Compressed Railguns. Also it is a practical choice as I already have the skills for the associated modules of choice.
The other thing I want to try out is to see how long I can make a dropship survive a match by staying at the flight ceiling the whole match above objectives with a Mobile CRU (Yes, I'm aware this will earn exactly nothing). |
