To help the newer players figure out what skills would be useful for particular roles, and to allow there to be some indication publicly (or privately) I think a certificate set up like in EVE would be a nice addition. At this point there aren't really enough skills to justify having one, but if one could be implemented in the future it could be very helpful. |

Could you (or someone reading this) elaborate on these certificates for those of us unawares? |

In EVE they have something called a certificate. A certificate is obtained by raising a certain skills a certain amount. A certificate itself has no value, but it can be shown publicly so that others know what you are competent in. It is also is a great guide in knowing what to skill into. On top of that, each ship has recommended certificates in order to maximize a ships role and abilities. There are a multitude of certificates organized by a particular specialization.
In Dust this would equate to have a certificate that showed proficiency in armor tanking. Example: Basic Armor Tanking: Armor plates level 1, Armor repair level 1, armor upgrade 3 Standard Armor tanking: Armor plates level 3, Armor repair level 3, armor upgrade 5 Elite Armor tanking: Armor plates level 5, Armor repair level 5
Weapons too can have a similar progression, especially with every weapons secondary skills.
There would be other certificates that require these as well like Gallente logistics Example: Basic Gall Logistics: Basic armor tanking, nanocircuitry level 1, repair tool level 1, gallente logistic level 1 Standard Gall Logistics: Standard armor tanking, nanocircuitry level 3, repair tool level 3, gallente logistic level 3 Elite Gall Logistics: Elite armor tanking, nanocircuitry level 5, repair tool level 3, gallente logistic level 5
There are generally two types of certificates, ones aimed at a certain specialization, i.e. hybrid weapon skills, armor tanking, shield tanking, core upgrades, stealth skills. The others are more based on a racial broad role, like Gallente Assault, Caldari Sentinel, Minmitar scout.
So as a new player who knew which race and which role I wanted to play, but not what skills to work on, a certificate planner has a road map of skills for a certain role. If I wanted to work on armor then I know to invest in the skills listed in the armor tanking certificates.
Also my certificates can be displayed publicly in my profile if I so choose. So for example myself would have: Elite Gallente Logistics, Elite Armor Tanking, Basic Mass driver, Standard Assault rifle. Now at a glance it is known that I can bring out full proto logistics suit and gear, can proficiently armor tank, and am skilled into Assault rifle and mass driver. This can be made to only be shown to corp mates, making it easier to organize for matches.
Like I said, there are nearly enough skills ATM to warrant certificates yet, but I just wanted to throw my support out for the idea |

Sure, sounds helpful. Lets just hope they don't tie them into trophies though. Trophy hunters would go insane trying to platinum Dust.
On a related note, I want a "Jack of all trades" certificate for having at least one level in assault, logi, scout, pilot, commando, and sentinel. |

Yeah this has been suggested for a very long time, good to see it being posted again. Certificates make so much sense its not even funny. |

It's worth about as much as a college degree. It just indicates you are familiar with a certain set of skills. People can take what they want from that. If people go trophy hunting through certificates it would take a long time to get them all on the same account. |

I enjoy my improved Gal special forces certificate. Doesn't do much but it looks good on my wall. |

There seem to be requests for this sort of thing periodically. Is it too much of a time investment for the programmers? |
