          Okay, I missed the memo.
What in the heck is the secret to hitting somebody when sniping in this release? Any advice would be great -- and to up the stakes my DS3 controller might get hurt if I don't get the info I need.

CCP Earworm wrote:Regarding the over/undershooting polling rate and acceleration are the only frame dependent parts of the pad movement. Think of it this way: when the pad input is above a certain threshold it will enter acceleration mode and ramp up to a set max speed. That speed accumulates over every frame discretely so changes in frame rate or when exactly you start ramping down the pad input would make a difference on your ending point. The same discrete accumulation affects polling rate. The best test is to sweep with small movements over a long time with steady values (IE keep the input constant). If you change input values the exact moment that change happens during the frame could affect the final result. Also, even with constant input values you should still see +/- a couple of frames because when you start and stop the input test it could fall in different parts of the frame. |

          Nobody aims in 1.2 silly
Everybody spams Mass Drivers and Flaylocks at your feet! Why aim when you can splash damage everybody to death?
  Satirical Rant over.
In all reality, aiming has gotten easier in 1.2 IMO. SMG is far easier for me to use now, you just gotta get used to the new strafe speeds.
As for sniper side, I find it easier to get kills if I intentionally aim slightly behind the moving target. I came over from BF3, so I am used to leading the target. By forcing myself to aim a little bit behind where I usually aim, I get more Hitmarkers.
I always feel like the shot will miss, but that feeling is quickly followed by a HM. Works for me. |

I have no problems aiming honestly. DS3 user as well. I have both my sensitivities set at 60. Unlike other FPS games you really have to be aggressive in the tracking of your targets. My primary weapon is the LR with one of the worst sights in the game. |

In any game, if im sniping, i use the "flick" trick. knowing you'll hit your target without the crosshire on him, you flick the stick right before you pull the trigger. seems to work in games that have sway. |

I didn't start the thread to see how many people like snipers -- I'm aware the number is low. I do however defend objectives, take out swarm launchers, etc, etc. How's the MCC treating you anyway? |

I skilled into an advanced Gallente Logi setup and I'm having fun again though, so my recliner is gathering a bit of dust.
Also, forgive me for classing you with the redline snipers then. If you're hunting down AV, then you're making the world a better place. |

I'm actually trying the advice you guys are giving me -- well, the aiming related advice thank you very much -- but I'm not really hitting a sweet spot or anything.
I've had luck with the flick'n'fire model at times but it's only luck. It's great when a guy jumps and you flick, snap, and get the headshot sound as a reward. However, there are not enough blue moons to keep me happy with this method of aiming. Either that or my subconscious aiming skills are not quite up to snuff yet. |

I put my reticule over them, roll a bit until I see the headshot bonus, and tap R1.
it also helps though that I primarily hunt with my sniper rifle either: A.) With a teammate irl with voiced communication. B.) Sniping people stationary on buildings/in their redline. |
