Don't you hate it when you're sneaking around and just as you make a turn you are mowed down by a random heavy who was just waiting for you? This keeps happening to me and because of it I feel there is no point in profile reduction unless the whole system is fixed.
I feel each suit should have an effective agro range which determines the maximum range in which you can be detected. But instead of always being detected within this range it would be based on your noise/agro. The more noise, the farther away the enemy is able to detect you. So if you're just standing there doing nothing and there is no enemy looking at you then it would be impossible for the enemy to detect you without an active scanner.
Here is how I see it:
Crouched: -5% Standing / Melee: 0% Walk / Jog / Drop ship: +5% Climb / Rep / Charging: +10%. Sprint / Jump / LAV: +30%. Shooting / HAV: +50%. Spotted: +95%. Hacking: +100%.
Vehicles have the same agro range as a heavy dropsuite.
Reducing your profile should actually reduce the amount of noise gained from the above. Increasing scan range will increase the above for others as far as your own ability to detect them i.e. a player with high scan range can more easily detect a flanking scout then a person with no added scan range.
Tactical differences:
- Snipers can detect when someone is approaching if they are not quiet.
- Snipers could alert others of the enemy within there scopes.
- Snipers would have to be careful as to move after each shot so they aren't pinned down quickly.
- A heavy would more easily gain the attention of others (you are playing a tank after all).
- A scout could actually be sneaky. Have you been spotted? Either kill the guy or lose LoS before his backup arrives!
- Heavies can now help the team by getting the attention and allowing there allies to more easily flank them.
- It's easier to detect players using chargeable weapons like the forge gun. I would also like to allow nova knives to be chargeable while running so that this doesn't completely nurf them.
- Active scanner would have more value.
- LAVs would have a harder time sneaking up on people.
- Players would be encouraged to spec into hacking as they would not want to get jumped while taking a supply station or CRU.
- New skills would be available to greatly reduce hacking noise. Combine this with profile dampeners and you can hack vehicles and instillations unnoticed.
As for the upcoming stealth module, it would have the same effect as a profile dampener but to a greater degree based on it's tier. This way even if you're invisible you can be detected if you're not being stealthy(that IS the whole point of the mod isn't it?).
So anyway that's my 2 ISK on the matter. What do you guys think? Got ideas of your own? If so I'd love to read 'em.

I agree with almost all the points, except the last, when you are hacking something, is already written on screen. Vehicles spotting need an improvement, a lot of times, i hear the blaster/railgun/missile sound and i don't know where is the tank and maybe is right beside me XD. |

To be honest I through the hacking part in at the last minute and am fine with or without it. And yea there is no way a roaring car should be able to be that close to you and you not know it. |

Yes; I like. I'd rather there not be a 30% boost on Sprinting, though. Seems like that would cause more problem for the Light Frames than they are already having. |

1) would give a good incentive to take the longer rout which usually is less populated by enemies. This will in turn mean it's kind of forcing you to flank.
2) Gives greater value to scout LAVs and drop ships. |
